making magic in the south of France

by Sharon Santoni
There is a magician living in the South of France and she spends her days turning out magical and enchanting creations that sell world over.

Pascale Palun trained as a stylist, took a break to raise her son and began creating at home using old materials she found.  Her little pieces of magic started selling locally, she called her company  Vox Populi  and before she knew it she was at the Paris Maison et Objet show and her work was being requested for sale all around the planet.

It seems she can turn her hand to anything, but she has specialised in these delightful lamps and chandeliers.  Her miniature lamp ‘cages’ with tiny vignettes inside are totally charming.  I have seen them in a shop near here, they are breathtaking.
These shots are of her work and of her home in Avignon where she has her studio.  This girl really understands the art of patina, and the importance of detail.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I was not aware of this artist. The little light cages are enchanting. What a charming vision she has. I have a passion for what I call "little lights." I have them tucked here and there, but I have never seen anything like these! Where I live, we have many overcast days and the little lights brighten an otherwise dark spot.

Happy St. Valentine's Day Sharon

Pasal Palum work is detailed and beautiful. She is a master in her craft. The scale, volume and patina are all in accord.
Thanks for sharing.

The open cage with the couple sitting on the bench is incredible, adding the light to shine down on them makes it even more divine.

So pretty! My husband surprised me with tickets to Belgium and Paris for our 30th wedding anniversary. I am beyond excited as Paris has always been a dream for me (kids, house, college tuition) Now I'm planning! Where to go, the shopping – love all this patina!

Hi Sharon, I actually met this woman as I stopped to admire her chandeliers at Maison et Objet a few years ago. Lovely woman and her creations are quite magical. Lovely to see them again, I always meant to get one but never did! Love your blog by the way, looking forward to reading more about your beautiful home and life in France.

Hi Sharon – this is soooo late, that maybe I should have waited to Valentine's Day 2013, but looking through your lovely website/blogg andhaving seen these absolutely delightful things, especilly as it mentioned the south of France, I had to look it up, where in the south of France, and it's in Avignon c 25min from our place, so next we are there, guess where I'll be going! We were in Avignon last month for lunch with Enlish/Swedish friends…. 🙂
