April in Paris – getting romantic

by Sharon Santoni
April in Paris …. remember that?!

What could be more romantic than a trip to Paris in the month full of blossoms and the promise of Spring.

Today, a couple of suggestions to enjoy in the capital next month … on a romantic theme ….

First of all the romantic hideaway  ….  coming home to your own little apartment on the left bank is way more romantic than checking into a big hotel.  I would recommend any of these beautifully furnished and rented out by my friends at Haven in Paris.

The beauty of staying in an apartment is that you feel you are part of the neighbourhood; imagine yourself a true Parisian.  In the morning you slip out to buy fresh croissant from the boulangerie on the corner …. come back to the apartment, and plan your day comfortably over breakfast …. and at the end of the afternoon, you come ‘home’ to rest, shower, open some champagne ….. before going out to dinner.

Now what to do with your romantic afternoon? …..  Paris is a city to walk around.  To soak up the atmosphere, to savour.  Of course you can take in a museum or the  Eiffel Tower, but more enjoyment may be had sticking to  St Germain and maybe picking out a painting to take home at one of the many little art galeries along the rue de Seine.

and when you feel like a rest, then stop at a favourite Parisian café, La Palette, either sitting outside and watching Paris go by, or inside where you can admire the original artwork on the walls.
And finally,  the romantic place to dine?   It’s hardly difficult to find a good restaurant in Paris, but if it were for a special and romantic occasion, then why not go to a very special Parisian address?
Lapérouse, a restaurant whose history dates back to the 18th century!  How could you not feel special as you walk through those doors?

Voilà … just a few ideas, quickly put together for you.  Whatever you end up doing, I know you’ll enjoy your very own April in Paris!

April is a lovely month to spend time in Paris. Of course, is there anytime that it doesn't feel romantic…I don't think so. Thank you as always for your suggestions.

This post has made me miss Paris so very much! It was April when I first visited and it was so magical. I love everything about your photos and am a bit obsessed with Paris kitchens. They are always so beautifuly presented no matter how small and old. Have a lovely romantic interlude! Minerva ~

Hi Sharon!!!

My two nieces just arrived back from a European vacation which included
Paris. Paris was the highlight of the trip. They love it. A few years ago
my sister, her hubby and their best friends spent a week there in a rented
apartment and she described it exactly like you did.

Spring is a time for new beginnings and putting that together with Paris…
Well, what more would you want?!!

Thank you for your beautiful Paris in Springtime trip. I think we all would
love to go over during this beautiful time.

Have a great weekend!!!

That was a wonderful post; I needed to be taken away at the moment I read it. What a very right way to experience Paris and its gems.

I spent both my 40th and 50th birthdays (April) in Paris. Both times it was absolutely exquisite. I'm going to have to start doing this birthday trip in 5 year increments, I think!

Ah happy memories of a lovely few days in Paris a couple of years ago. Wonderful. I love your photo's of apartments, Sharon, they look amazing. We stayed in Le Marais which we loved as it is like a quaint village with beautiful little boutiques. I'd go back in a heartbeat! Happy Easter!

Hi Sharon,
About 8 years ago, I spent April in Paris and loved it. It would love to go back to France and visit Monet's garden when the roses are in full bloom – that is on my bucket list! Friends would like us to go with them for Christmas to Paris. I am keeping this post on file for reference in the, hopefully, not-too-distant future!
Thank you!
Hugs,
Linda at Beautiful Ideas
