Good day Sharon, I just came in from tending my garden. Yours is lovely with that wonderful light in Normandy. I have found that doing mine early in the morning is best here…..since it is not so darn hot them!! (O:

Your garden is lovely. I especially love the lupines. I have often said the garden is my Cathedral. It is where the brain stops and the heart slows. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Sharon!
The garden looks very inviting…. Not overdone, just pretty and a "come on in and relax" kind of style….. I have been sprucing up too….. Crepe Myrtle time of year…….

J'adore les jardins..
Yours is lovely..the rose is darling growing up like that..on it's own teepee tuteur.
My lupins..never ever come back.
I do believe some soils are destined to scare some plants away:(

I'm looking forward to spending time in my garden tomorrow, doing a few chores. But this evening, I'm going out to just enjoy, as you've suggested. Excellent therapy indeed.

Your lupine is glorious as is your photography! But where are the two most important four-legged parts of your garden? Best regards, Leslie

Nancy Godwin (google her) is a renowned gardener/plantswoman (she's the authority on cyclamens and their propagation).

I went through a genuinely terrible time three years ago, courtesy of a stalker (she was the real, varsity-league thing…currently, there are 27 outstanding federal warrants against the woman, courtesy of what she did to my life). Among other grotesque things, she got hold of all my mailing lists (she was in my house every night for three weeks while I was in France that Summer) and wrote really appalling, sexually-oriented letters from "me" to about 200 folks on my agenting/client lists. It was a nightmare.

One of those recipients was Nancy (whom I'd never met in person at that time). Now, Nancy is in her 80's….and I thought there'd be no way she'd understand the situation.

Instead, when she received my letter of apology/explanation, she wrote the kindest note I'ver gotten….and it was just about the only thing that really calmed me during that terrible year.

She wrote:

"Don't worry too much. Go out into the garden; it's always the greatest comfort."

Isn't that lovely?…..and I should emphasize that she was RIGHT. I kept her card on my kitchen table for a very long time, and I thought of her advice MANY times during a year of horrible court appearances, etcetera.

Surprisingly enough, I ended up moving last year to a 220 year old house just down the road from Montrose, Nancy's estate/garden.

In any case….yes, the garden IS therapy.

Thanks as always,

David Terry

Oh yes, therapy indeed. We had a major storm last night however, that pummeled many gardens to nothing, uprooted trees and made us think again how fragile we are, like the flowers of the field. Beautiful, awesome, terrible is nature!

Lovely photos! Anita

Oh the pleasures of being in the garden! Mine is finally coming to fruition after 3 years. I'm extremely jealous of your Lupines! I planted 2 this year and they are quite sad looking at this point. My garden brings me such a sense of fulfillment regardless of plants that don't fill their "potential" in mine, lol. I have a pink rose that looks similar to yours. It's a David Austen "Heritage" This rose has such a divine fragrance that is heaven. I'm sure I look quite silly to the people driving by with my nose buried in the blossoms! Looking forward to more of your garden photos.
