domaine de la baume – a chic new address in provence

by Sharon Santoni
[blank]This summer in Provence I have discovered a new address whose beauty takes my breath away.[blank]

[blank]The Domain de la Baume opened its doors a month ago, and welcomes a limited number of guests inside its deep bastide walls.[blank]

[blank]The Domaine is the latest creation of the Sibuet group whose hotel, Les Fermes de Marie, you may already know in the ski resort of Megeve.[blank]

[blank]Here at La Baume they have surpassed themselves.  The palatial villa, formerly home to the French artist Bernard Buffet, has been totally renovated from head to toe.  The result is a rich tapestry of warm Provencal colours, antique furniture, hand painted wall fresques and carefully chosen original art.[blank]
[blank]
[blank]

The guest is treated as a precious and welcome friend rather than a client.   There are only ten rooms and suites, and already you need to book well ahead.[blank]

[blank]When you are fortunate enough to stay at a place like this, it is the attention to detail that makes the difference.   The careful choice of fabrics, the very clever design that gives the impression of staying in a family home rather than a hotel.

This is made even more special by the fact that the interiors were designed by the owners themselves.  Their experience with their other hotels, and their very sure eye have produced an outstanding result.[blank]

[blank]The grounds seem endless, and the views from the rooms and from the terrace where we enjoyed our aperitif were simply magical.[blank]
[blank]
[blank]Domaine de la Baume … I’ll be back for more![blank]

Oooh, I have been wanting to see if the Domaine was as beautiful as promised and yes, it clearly is even far more lovely! Thank you for opening the door…and isn't Tourtour charming too?
I hope you are having a fabulous time in La Provence Verte!

So beautiful! We were near there this summer, in Lorgues, for a week. Beautiful area, and I'd love to stay here – just need to win the lottery!

It's utterly beautiful, with so much care and work having gone into it that the guest surely can't help but feel privileged and cosseted.

Gorgeous property. Before I knew it I became immersed in deciding which of the properties I loved the best. I checked out all the hotels in the group. I day dreamed and imagined myself walking in the gardens, lazing by pools and sipping cocktails.
Seriously. I think I need a holiday.

Hi Sharon!!!

Absolutely gorgeous!!!

How beautiful the outdoor gardens look with the beautiful surrounding views!!
I love the painted scenes on the walls where you can sit and have a drink and relax.

The rooms are done very comfortably and I love the clawfoot bathtub!! A great place to be after a day in the surrounding countryside.

The first picture would be how I would try to describe to anyone my dream home and how I wished it to look!!

Thank you for letting us visit a gorgeous place!!!!

I love Tourtour Heather, enjoying dinner underneath the big trees on the village square is one of my best memories of that part of France. And yes, La Baume is every bit as good as it looks … and then some!

Not wallpaper actually, although it is difficult to tell from the picture. This is a beautiful re-edition of a Provencal fabric on the walls, quite stunning.

Do you know what the status of the property is since the hotel closed? Is it possible to visit the exterior of the property?
