warming up for the brocante season

by Sharon Santoni

I have been buying brocante  for a client this week, and although the country fairs haven’t started yet because the weather is still too wintry, there was a big antique salon yesterday and of course I have been doing the rounds of my local dealers.

I thought you may like to see what caught my eye ….

In some ways you can see the fashions change, more black and grey, more industrial utilitarian feel, a lot of taxidermy …

but at the end of the day, there will always be those who buy and see the classics: the crystal, the silver, the polished woods and the beautiful paintings like this stunning military portrait that I already saw for sale at a fair a few months ago.

When my guests arrive here to shop for brocante, they often  comment on the huge variety and style of items available for sale.   That is partly due to these currents of fashion, and also because I am careful to take them  to contrasting fairs and merchants

If you are tempted to come shopping with me this year, the spring trips are fully booked, but there are still spaces for the September group tour, and of course there is still space for private and professional buyers who prefer to shop alone.

For more details just drop me a line right here!

So many interesting, intriguing things, you have such a good eye. I like to imagine stories and the history of the things I pick up while on the hunt. Sharon, a brocante trip with you is definitely on my bucket list. Here’s hoping it happens sooner rather than later! XO

So many beautiful things here Sharon. If only I had another house to put these gems in. X

Bon soir Sharon,

Do you have the details on the September 2014 group tour?
I tried unsuccessfully to open your document.
My PC must have older version of software so could not read your info.

Also do you include any fairs that have jewelry and fashion items?

Merci,

Ann

That military portrait caught my eye when you first posted it, so much so that I tried doing some research for more information. Still wondering who he was.

I really love this painting Emm, but I’m not sure where I could put it if I bought it. In any case I was so happy to see it again at this fair, the expression and detail in the face is extraordinary.
