Worldwide trends in interior design are leaning towards an uncluttered, calm style. At times this is reminiscent of the traditional Gustavien designs that have come to us from Scandinavia, or of the beautifully simple Shaker lines, and then there is the French version.
I love this look. The way these young French designers are using and re-using brocante and industrial pieces to put together a comfortable, friendly atmosphere, where anyone could feel right at home. It is a care-free style, nothing feels so precious you don’t dare use it.
It feels young, it feels unpretentious, it looks so French and it is eco-friendly!
I came across this new French website called Desuét this week. They are literally just launching their very first collection of vintage and brocante furniture with great patina, fantastic colours, and slightly quirky designs.
Desuét is created by a young couple, Simon and Perrine, who love to hunt for treasure, and who combine the pieces they find with their very cute textile creations.
don’t you just love to see a young company get going ? ….
Desuét tell me that they are happy to ship abroad, although for any larger pieces you would need to enquire about shipping costs. You can pay by card, using the Paypal button on their site and then following the instructions. Next week, they’ll be able to take payments by card directly. …… I have a feeling these pieces will be flying off their shelves!

I love it! So simple and uncluttered! But I could only achieve that look if I got rid of most of my possessions and started over from scratch. Not an easy task. I’ll have to admire from a distance. I do have a very old “measuring stick” that belonged to my grandfather and now I see that I can shape it in to a star and hang it on the wall – what a fabulous idea!
Your post today is beautiful. I love the simplicity of the rooms in the home. Thanx for sharing.
Lovely in its own way. Reminds me somewhat of Restoration Hardware & several other retailers in the US. Beautiful post & their website is quite lovely. Thank you for this.
Sharon I agree with you, I love young people bringing their dreams to fruition. I am constantly editing, then last night my son brought by a wonderful clock he found for me….I adore it and his thoughtfulness!

J’adore ce style pour la campagne!
I went to the Desuét website, but I can’t read French. Is there another website with English? Love their stuff!
FYI – If you use Google Chrome as your browser a box pops up and offers you the opportunity of translation. Very handy when checking out eurosites!
Thank you Eileen, I didn’t know that!
Hope Eileen’s tip helped you Deborah

Thank you for introducing us to Desuét. I am the stage of my life where the simplified life and all it embraces has increasing appeal. This is also the style my daughter (an apartment owner) loves it too – it beautifully complements smaller spaces while personalising and adding a sense of history to the decor. Warm regards
I love this style. I am a minimalist kind of person with bits that meaningful to my family. This style is artistic and so comfortable to me. Thank you for sharing this lovely new Company.
Bonsoir, Sharon!
I love the uncluttered look, especially when the French master the style! I love what I’m seeing here, and a while back, I decided I’d unclutter my home. It feels much more liveable, calming, and definitely French! I also enjoyed your share on your amie française, Aude…what a beautiful home, kitchen, and lady!
Thank you for visiting my older post; I just saw you had left a comment!
Bon dimanche, Anita

It just reminds me of homes during the early 1930 depression era. Almost all the middle/lower middle class were living this way. Most people didnot have ‘things…aka…clutter’ until late in the 20th century when life became all about money instead of family. In those days people cared about people and not so much about having things. Home was a haven and there was no hustle and bustle and life was hard in many ways but families loved one another and the future was to encourage your children to live the Golden Rule and be good mothers and fathers in their turn. Neighborhoods were safe and family friendly. Beauty was in the simple plesures; however no one wanted their furniture look as though they forgot to give it a coat of paint. Beauty in in the eye of the beholder not in what is encouraged by the media and big business. Sorry I am for tradition and in all that the word implies.
I love the French and their love of family and growing a pottage garden for their fresh needs…their love of doing much of their gettogethers around ‘the simple table of fresh simple dishes.’ May God bless them.
For newest information you have to visit world wide web and
on internet I found this site as a most excellent website for
latest updates.
Now off to find this new company too! And let’s here it for the uncluttered look. We were trying (I said trying!) to do that in our new house, easier said than done… 😉

I love this beautiful style, so uncluttered. We are building a new home and this is my style. Our architect called it a modern barn farmhouse…..I am sooo hoping I can pull it off.
