I just love a success story, and when that tale includes a blog, a young woman the age of my own children and a lunch in Paris on a beautiful autumn day … well, it doesn’t get much better!
Yesterday I was thrilled to meet for lunch with Rachel Martino, a young blogging sensation from Brooklyn who is hugely successful as a fashion and make up blogger and youtuber.
We live in such exciting times. Rachel has moved, in just five years, from being a student who put up her first youtube video, to being a fashion icon who is stopped and recognised on the streets of Paris, and all of that through her pretty face, vivacious spirit and a lot of hard work.
I was happy to have time to ask Rachel a few questions, and simply amazed at how professional she is and how exciting and fun her story has become.
Of course the fashion and beauty industry understood the power of bloggers a long time ago, and Rachel was invited to Paris by Burberry this week to be part of the unveiling of the Christmas windows at the big department store Printemps. They even allowed her to invite her boyfriend on the trip for a romantic autumn weekend! How sweet is that!
Never let it be said that it is easy to succeed on the internet! Rachel is driven. She is organised. She is pro-active and the fact that she has such a successful internet presence while still holding down a corporate job with Estée Lauder in New York makes her simply inspiring.
So here for you, on this sunny autumn weekend is a little video of Rachel in Paris, talking about fashion and France and visiting Maison Ullens.
Thank you for reading me , have a lovely weekend!

I love this! It is so neat that someone her age could have such fun and be successful at the same time! Wish I had done this when I was her age!
I am showing this article to my daughter, she loves fashion and Rachel’s example is inspiring, thank you for sharing
Genial! Ma fille est allé la rencontrer à Paris cet apres-midi, elle a adoré!!
My daughter went to meet Rachel in Paris this afternoon and she said she was just lovely!
Thank you for telling us about this young lady, her energy is insprational
love the video of her in paris – so fresh and romantic 🙂
What I love most about your story Sharon, is that it works for all ages. OK so Rachel is young and gorgeous and not all of us can look like her, but we can all find a way to reinvent ourselves and create an activity via internet. Like you say you need that initial spark and a load of work but at least it’s fun on the way!
I set up a local association for walking and gardening together when I moved to my new home in Connecticut. I did it all via the net, I don’t procure an income, but that isn’t what I was after, but I have found so many friends and my social diary is just brimming over – all because I put myself ‘out there’!
Thank you for this inspiring post

Rachel is such a pretty young lady. It’s great to hear stories like hers.
Sheila’s story is interesting too. It’s hard to meet neighbors. yvonne
Rachel Martino story is a testament to the power of dedication and hard work. Moving from a student making YouTube videos to a fashion icon recognized on the streets of Paris is truly remarkable.
