when pink is the answer

pink flower arrangement in front of antique mirror

Sometimes, when the winter weather is just too grey and uninviting, and when our energy levels are at their lowest,  the best remedy is a simple shot of pink!

These flowers called out to me as I drove home from town this morning, my head full of my to-do list for the day but not feeling very energetic.  Their bright colours lured me out of my car and into the florists.

A couple of bunch of tulips, a few sprigs of wax, some greenery from the garden and the deed was quickly done.  And to lift the whole thing I rescued two little orange raununculas and some viburnum from last weeks flowers.  A dot of orange lifts the colours without overpowering them.

I sat them in front of a mirror, which is a great trick when you want to make the flowers look even fuller.

No excuses now, I have my own shot of pink sitting within eyesight of my desk … energy in a vase!

So tell me, how about you?  What is your instant lift?

Hi Sharon, The only thing I would add to your beautiful flowers to help me with the dreary winter blues would be MUSIC. I love to listen to music while enjoying surroundings. It definitely gives me a boost. Have a wonderful day!

I almost feel guilty here in sunny California. Today it should be 75°. I used to have such a difficult time in the winter, but the sunshine has cured me. I love your pink tulips and my friend says that all works of art need a little surprise – like the dash of orange.

Totally LOVE your bouquet….I am from sunny California as well but today it’s low lying grey fog morning and seeing your flower arrangement with a touch of orange brightened my day! I shall try the same on Valentine’s Day. Merci, merci!

Fresh flowers are an instant lift but also moving the furniture around, changing the location of a picture, etc. These take my thoughts to another place, away from my concerns of the moment.

I have been a faithful loving caregiver to my little 88 year old Mommy for 12 years. She left me just before Christmas for a better place. I’m all alone in this big old house now so
you are my dash of orange today, my sweet lovely girl. I always brighten right up when I see your blog is posted once again. Thank you for all that you do. Life is so full of beauty and I will be spending more time Painting and gardening and getting busy with new projects like you do. There is always another one around the corner. We had a lot of cloudy days and rain just before the Super Bowl, but the sun is out and anything is possible. Think I’ll get some flowers for the table. Catch you later.

Sharon, I think pink is always the answer. Just gorgeous. Glad they caught your eye. I’ll be walking in the rain shortly down to our corner grocer for a few tulips of my own. They always provide a lift – and so does coffee! XOXO

Yup, I’m not a pink girl often, but yesterday pink tulips with a little white was what was needed.. Bought them at the market, popped them in the fridge for a couple of hours then brought them out, trimmed the ends and voila, perfect little tulips…and they are still beautiful today! I was sure they’d droop and open and be done in hours! Yay!
They are perky with a cold foggy day here…..
Yes, pink can perk up a day!

It’s great how the Spring flowers arrive into our shops here in Europe at just the right time to lift our spirits. In these dark, depressing days of January and February, the bright colours of the tulips , hyacinths, daffodils and irises with some gentle pussy willows thrown in are just what we all need. They make all the difference!

The colour pink is so refreshing at this time of year against the white backdrop of winter whites…. Try to putting something pink or red in the romance area of your rooms to help stimulate the good vibes! 🙂

I totally agree. By mid January (even here in Florida) I am drawn to pink. I burn rose fragrance pink candles, enjoy pink flowers and even paint my toes pink. Is it the anticpation of spring or the thoughts of renewing of my goals in the new year? There is something simple about pink…

Oh how beautiful your pick me up adds to the beauty of old, white, and gold.
My pick me up is to have an outing to find some great piece of salvage so I can get home and create. Yet, seeing your blooms would inspire a stop if I were passing a great flower stand, I would then place the loose flowers of wild in several choices of floral containers to add a touch of natural jardin colour to my neutrals.

I always love visiting your beauty here.

A beautiful arrangement. We have had quite a bit of snow here in Northern New Jersey USA with more coming.
I bought a bright pink primrose the other day to remind me that spring will come! I guess we are all of the same mindset.

Most flowers in general are a great pick me up for me, especially pink! I love flowers & probably want to paint them more than just about anything. I’m working on a new red floral painting for Valentines Day & I may just add a dash of pink in there as well. I hope it turns out.
Your arrangement is simply gorgeous Sharon! Thank you as always.

With our grey day today the bouquet is a ‘shot in the arm’ and a lift for the spirit…to get thoughts and energy moving when the mind says “Please just let me tarry a little longer before doing the necessaray daily chores.”

Blessings to you and your family……

Hi Sharon, thank you for the beautiful bouquet. It’s after midnight on this side of the world it’s been hot and humid over here this has a bad effect on the garden, but the roses never give up. You have helped me make up my mind what colour ranunculus to plant this time I’m going with light pink and orange. I was also trying to choose a climber and I’ve chose a rose called Pappy Delbard now I just have to tell the husband. Thank you for sharing beauty. Till next time Regards Esther from Sydney. PS your photographs are just stunning.

Too much snow on the ground and cold in the forecast to tease myself with thoughts of spring at present. I perk myself up with an afternoon cup of hot chocolate piled high with clouds of real whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground chocolate on top. There, you see, just the thought of it has me bouncing already.

Flowers like the lovelies you have on display haunt my dreams though.
