It didn’t rain yesterday … it tipped down. How can I best explain? … the skies opened … curtains of water fell…. we had monumental storms …. we experienced the proverbial deluge!
So what did I do? ….. I took some lovely guests, visiting from the other side of the world, out to visit a couple of exceptional gardens!
Yes, that is the way of things in this part of the world. The elements may not always be with us, but they certainly can’t keep us down. Wellington boots are a vital part of any girl’s wardrobe here at the moment, and I packed the trunk of the car with a selection of sizes and set off to find my guests.
I’ll be telling you about the second garden later this week, but for now I just want to show you my favourite pictures from Le Jardin Plume – in the rain! I have mentioned the Jardin Plume before, but had never had the opportunity to take pictures in this season.

Because of the weather this week, there is also no major loot shoot to report, but I have some fun things lined up for the week to come.

I didn't comment yesterday as I was too busy reading all of your other readers' comments but in the end since it is your blog, aren't you the editor? And as editor you fet the final say as to what you share, illustrate or reveal. For me my blog is a getaway, a place to meet people, learn new things, etc. and you do a great job connecting with your readers on all of these levels. Thanks for sharing. Btw, it sounds like so much fun to be traipsing around in the ran and mud in Wellington boots!

The garden looks sultry, mysterious and moody in the rain. A look I rather like.

It is really raining all over the world today.Yesterday we had the most mavellous sunshine for the village fall feast full of organge pumpkins,laughing and chating adults happy kids running about, good food good wine and a warm evening full of candlelights.Saying farwell to each other around midnight.And then after the short sleep today we have an awfull rain.The first fire lit in the oven and an afternoon with a book (and the blog).So pity I cannot publish any pictures.regards from the Great Hungarian Plain in Middle of Europe Dorka http://www.dorottyaudvar.co.hu

Rainy days all around the world. It's raining here this morning, too. I don't mind – we've had an exceptionally dry three months. And it's rather cozy here at my computer with a cup of tea to hand.
One question – the piles of hay? mulch? on the garden plots – of what significance are they? Were the squares potagers? or? Whatever they are, they look very picturesque.

After almost three months of dry weather, we started to think we were going to get away with it and would be greeted with sunny skies for the rest of the year… It was not to be I guess. No rain here in north Texas, but we had enough of that last weekend, so I'm enjoying the early fall sunshine. I'm glad that you didn't let the rain stop you from enjoying your adventure!
Hi Sharon, or as the nursery rhyme goes ""It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring…" Bet you wish you were in bed instead of getting up in the rain. The pictures of the fields, haystacks, gardens, cows and etc. are beautiful even in the rain.
You make me smile thinking of you driving off in the rain with a boot full of wellies or as we say in our neck of the woods…a trunk full of rubber boots. A thoughtful gesture and happy guests with dry feet.

it has not stopped raining here in Vancouver, BC for 3 days. my husband says it will stop in June of next year! Sometimes it really feels like that. I' d rather be in French rain.

You know I love what I affectionatley call "Normandy Grey"! Love the steely tones in that huge sky in the valley there and dank weather only makes for an even lovelier tea time near the cosy fire.Guess what is rainy down here…Acorns! I've never had so many.Ever! Sounds like angry squirrels heaving buckets of them on my roof.

Wonderful pictures. I visited Normandy some 10 years ago and I certainly would like to go back some time.
Your place and garden looks so nice and lovely. Here in Denmark the rain also visit us daily but the sun also comes now and then. Later this week it actually should be very warm again.

Your blog is my little escape with my cup of coffee early in the morning. I loved my escape today, walking around the Normandy countryside, with rain in my cheeks, smelling the recently cut grass and seeing all those mournfoul cows in my wake. I can not think of a better way to start my day. I love your blog!!
