the generosity of bloggers and a podcast

When I first started blogging I was amazed by the generosity of the blogging world.   The no-nonsense approach of helping each other out and aiding with mutual promotion of blogs and ideas is, I think,  a very feminine way to function.

Lunch with bloggers is always fun too, not only do we have such geeky, not-of-our-age techy conversations that always make me smile, but there is also a genuine interest in knowing how each other is doing, what she’s up to, and where possible how we can help.

Blogging is quite a solitary task, generally alone in front of a screen, typing out the words, taking the photos,  finding the ideas,  but in reality it is a community, because one blog all alone would never function.  Each one of our blogs work because the others already exist, and we simply find our spot where we are comfortable to sit and create.

And it’s because of this generous blogging spirit that I was interviewed last week by the delightful Karen and Zandra of Little Yellow Couch.   These two young women write a blog about home design, and podcast an interview every Monday – such energy!

The podcast series is called Style Matters,  and you can check out their podcast page to see the long list of interviewees.

If you’d like to listen to the podcast you can find it HERE.

Thank you Zandra and Karen, it was great fun to be interviewed by you, hope to meet you one day for real!

I’ve seen the energy of bloggers and readers rallying around the amazing Ellie of Have Some Decorum, as well as some others. It really is girl power. So glad it’s working for you!!!

You just made me subscribe to yet another blog – I’m becoming more American by the minute…. most of the blogs I follow are ‘led’ by Americans and I am listening to this interview with great interest – it all seems so real, natural and done with not only a lot of energy but also love for the subject and love for the ‘next person’… You are right: Bloggers are mostly happy to help each others and some became quite dear friends although we’ve never met.
You have a lovely voice too! And same as all your readers, the 2 ‘girls’ having that blog were ‘over the moon’ with painter/artist Claire… what joy! Thank You Sharon for the joy you bring,

Your blog is amazing, I find the videos very inspiring and I agree you have a lovely voice. (You also remind me of the French actress Nathalie Baye) My cat would also appear to like your voice as she wandered into the room whilst I was listening to the pod cast and became very animated when you began to speak!

This is so very true, but I have to say that my blog would not be where it is today without your help. Yes bloggers, help each other, yes we rally around and give advice, and you did just that for me, you helped me and chatted to me on the phone and gave me so much confidence – a huge heartfelt thank you x

Sharon, I look forward to reading your blog and Our French Oasis. You are both such an inspiration and a highlight of my week! I have a small blog about my home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina where I write about the adventures I find in my own area. I do enjoy sharing the wonders I find every week but the thing I most enjoy and am looking forward to is being a part of the blogging community. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful life with us:)

Lisa – what’s the name of your blog??! It would be good to share it. I’m still in the thinking-about-it phase so reading Sharon’s post is very encouraging. I suppose one always thinks ‘who would want to read what I have to say?’ Good luck with your blog and I look forward to reading it!

Hello Marian,
The name of my blog is fiftiesfabulousfun.com. It is a work in progress and takes a good bit of time to start off. I think once I get things up and running it will not be so hectic. I am a teacher and will be using my summer break to pour a lot of time and love into it. I know I said it above but I sincerely believe the most rewarding thing about blogging is learning about yourself and becoming a part of a community of like minded individuals. I hope you enjoy my little blog, good luck and stay in touch:)
