If you’ve read this blog for a while you’ll know that each year I suffer from ‘thanksgiving envy’! Being British, I never had this holiday on my calendar, but I love this tradition of stopping to give thanks and to celebrate with family, and simply remember all the things we have to be grateful for. Today I am thankful for my family and for this beautiful autumn. I am thankful for the opportunities to share through this blog, and for the friendships that I find here
Today I am giving thanks for our liberty to create and for our freedom to express ourselves …. be it through words or through a simple bouquet.
I’ve made a little video of a flower bouquet, nothing fancy, just me being blown away in the garden while the dogs look on bemused. Thank you for reading me and for stopping by, and if you are celebrating Thanksgiving today, then have a wonderful day.

What a pretty bouquet–you really have a talent with flowers.
Thanksgiving is the nicest holiday because it’s about being with loved ones around the table. So simple and so universal.
Lovely autumn bouquet, Sharon. Can you please remind me of what the French call what we refer to as ‘oasis’ for holding the flowers ? Have sometimes found it difficult to locate here in S.W. France.
Love the flowers
So glad to be home today cooking and for my family. Happy to live in a free country. Happy not to be working today as a nurse I have to work this weekend and Christmas Day so this one I am off.
Blessings from USA, glad to share, this wonderful feeling of being grateful.
What a lovely arrangement. An ode to fall and all its treasures. Your furry assistants make the scene complete.
stunning….my hydrangeas never last more than a day or two. I must be doing something wrong.
Thank you Sharon for such a beautiful gift, so inspiring and peaceful. Your dogs are precious and you have such talent. Live your posts!

Good artible about this place. I’m currently thinking on my travel (to Belgium this time) and provided information could be helpful. Cheers.
Stunning arrangement. Although we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving either, we have been lucky enough to be invited to share in Thanksgiving with friends in America whilst we were there. What I love most about this holiday is it’s lack of commercialism, it is all about friends and family and being together. Today we raised a toast to all of our American friends and all the may things we are so thankful for.
It’s always a treat to see one of your videos, thank you Sharon! The dogs frolicking were an added bonus 🙂

Thank you for sharing the making of this lovely arrangement. I enjoyed the dogs as well. I look forward to reading your posts. Blessing to you.
Just lovely!
Sharon,
Thank you for the beautiful video & flowers….Gorgeous arrangement. I’m a descendant of the Mayflower Pilgrims. William White..is my connection. I never knew I was a pilgrim until recently. Love your sweet dog ♥
Merci Sharon, for the delightful glimpses of life in France that send our imaginations into gorgeous dreamy land!l
Love your arrangement and the Autumnal vibes as we here prepare for a long, hot summer!
Wishing you a wonderful Festive season from South Australia xox
Canadian Thanksgiving is always the second Monday in October; the 10th this year while there were still leaves on the trees and flowers in the garden. Our thanksgiving was supposed to have been started around 1578 by the English explorer Martin Frobisher who gave thanks for the safety of his crew after storms took a ship. So as a Brit, you have bragging rights! I think you should definitely start the Thanksgiving tradition where you are. Peace on earth, tiny planet.
Dear Sharon, what a lovely video, thank you so much!
Happy Thanksgiving, best wishes to you and your family from distant Brazil! And doggy kisses to Gibson and Ghetto!
Beautiful Sharon and your garden still looks amazing. I have family in America while I live in France ,so I too wish I celebrated Thanksgiving, such a meaningful fête and a sentiment we all need to live with.
Beautiful bouquet display Sharon. Thank you for the video. And the dogs, oh how I love to see the dogs in your beautiful garden. Happy Thanksgiving!
That was amazing! Besides it being absolutely beautiful, you put it together so naturally, no hemming and hawing trying to decide what flowers where, no trial and error, just put the flowers in the container. Amazing!
Gorgeous! You make putting together a bouquet seem effortless! Thank you for sharing and the happiest of holidays to you and your family.
Magic! You have a gift, that’s for sure. I’m wondering how long the flowers last in the florist foam vs. water, could you work that info into a post for us? I really need to try this …..
Sharon,
I loved the video! Thank you so much for the inspiration. As we recovered from too much delicious food from yesterday’s Thanksgiving meal, we are off to decorating for Christmas. I will hunt the yard for items to use for my garland-which I’ve never made before-but hope to have your artistic success! Also, love your book-I feel like I have many new French friends.
Beautiful arrangement especially with those incredible hydrangea. The pups are adorable too.

Simply beautiful, you make it look so easy to create visual delight. Love the colour combination and your nibble fingers. Best wishes from downunder.
Thank you so much for the lovely flowers for
Thanksgiving Day and for the beautiful furry babies keeping you company as you worked.
It was lovely and very appreciated.
Terrific post. Your arrangement is beautiful and I enjoyed watching you create it in the video. Such fun seeing your adorable dogs in the video too, and so nice to hear your voice. Lovely addition to your post!
A lovely autumn arrangement to cheer the coldest heart! Talking of flowers, you wrote a post back in summer about your Polka rose. I was so taken by the beautiful colour that I tried to find it in England. Finally found that it is called Lord Byron here and have just planted it against my archway! I’ll let you know how it goes next year. I’m so excited to see it in flower. Thanks for introducing us to this lovely rose.
thank you for this beautiful video, love the way you use natural foliage as fillers. Your lovely voice is soothing!
Hi Sharon,
I love the video, and the flower arrangement! Oh so beautiful, and your dogs are the perfect complement to your fairy tale life in France. It was good to hear your voice you are a fine lady.
Thank you for sharing.
