dressing for a summer in provence

by Sharon Santoni

I’m on holidays in the South of France for a few days and while here, I try to keep my wardrobe streamlined, fun and elegant.  Holidays are a moment when I have a little more time for myself.  We dine out a lot, and it’s such a pleasure to have time to change for dinner, to wear something pretty, and feel special.

A tan helps, of course , an instant shot of vitamin D that fills me with energy. The hot sunshine relaxes the atmosphere, and even getting ready to shop at the market, feels more fun as I can slip on a pretty dress, grab a basket and take my time to select fresh produce.

To find the perfect ensembles, I am loving the online boutique Halsbrook, and the way their website functions, proposing coordinated accessories and even the right necklace to wear with each dress or shirt. Halsbrook is a US online store with modern and elegant selections that speak to me because they carry many exclusive European designers, and bring a bit of France and the European vacation wardrobe to the States.

Here is a selection of outfits and beautiful pieces I selected inspired by my vacation and routines here in the South of France. They are versatile enough for a special dinner out, gallery opening or even a patio party.

In this outfit : White Pants, BroochJacket, Earrings, Clutch, Shoes.

In this outfit : Scarf, Clutch, Dress, Earrings, Cuff, Shoes.

In this outfit : Earrings, Shoes, Bag, Shirt, Pants, Necklace, Scarf

More pictures from my trip in Southern France are coming soon… and if you like the outfits posted, Halsbrook is having a Summer sale and you can take an extra 25% off sale items on their website with the code : HOT25.

I’ve noticed lots of loose dresses on women this summer around Carcassonne. Lots of white cotton or linen, no waist–just flowing–and lots of bell sleeves. Very cool and comfortable, just enough sun cover, and very elegant. There’s a woman I see at the market every Saturday, and sometimes I also bump into her during the week, and she is always dressed in one of these flowing dresses, always white, always a different style. Worn with gold shoes (ballerinas or Stan Smith style athletic shoes) or sandals.

Nothing prettier in summer than white linen! And, gold sandals! I like your choices, Sharon; I must be a little more imaginative with jewelry! (The navy/white/gold coordination is particularly chic.). I did bring coral studs for Wyoming eclipse event, and denim vest, to add color to all my white pieces. Thank you for the inspiration, as always!

Joyeuses vacances!! Your photos are specacular…..as usual!!
Hope you are absorbing the ambiance of
provence. Could you tell me the name of the blue flowers in the photo vine/hanging basket.
Looks similar to verbena.
Thank you

Plumbago, I think you can also get it in white but the blue is much prettier.

Is it plumbago? Blue is relatively rare in gardens in our corner of the world, so I always notice its effect, which can be enchanting. Especially pretty at that entrance!

You were absolutely correct!! Thanks for the response. I wish that I could grow such a lush plumbago!
Thanks
