Oh my Sharon these roses are beautiful! I have a few roses in our garden, last year two of my favourite roses died I have to wait till I can replace them, and now is the time to start pruning them can't wait till they start looking healthy with lots of blooms. I love the rose in photo no.3 just lovely. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photographs. Regards Esther from Sydney.
Absolutely beautiful. Your guest cottage and brocante shopping tours are on my 'bucket list.' I hope one day to make it to France, but until then, I enjoy your wonderful posts.
Sharon- I have been reading your blog for several years now and I just have to say that I am so, so grateful for your posts-for your love of life! My husband and I used to live in the UK. We are now in America and my heart aches for the hills and pastureland that I once knew and still love. Your simple post on roses today went straight to my heart and reminded me all over again of my great love affair with 'place'. Thank you, thank you! Yours, Sara
Ah, I *love* roses. My mom raised roses and they form a major part of my organic garden. Mine look pretty bad right now, as we've had record-breaking heat on the Central Coast of California, the poor things. What is the rose in the first photo?! Gorgeous! The second one looks like either a "Sexy Rexy" or a "Queen Elizabeth". Hard to tell as I can't see it's height. The last rose is a beauty; what variety is it?
Next week I'll be travelling up to Oregon. Part of this yearly visit is to make the pilgrimage to Heirloom Roses, a rose breeding nursery, with 5 acres of demonstration gardens. I time my visit to coincide with their annual half-price sale, when plants are $8.50 a piece. I have a gardening buddy up there and we frolic thru the gardens and come home with more roses than we have room for. But one can never have enough roses…
Oh, that sounds like so much fun, Jennifer! Your roses are so beautiful, Sharon. I'd love to see how your new gardens in front of your terrace have matured in the last couple of months. Wish I were there. My david Austin's are not loving the dry heat we've had and their first flush was nice but they have not come back. Any advice? Yours truly! Chris
Stunning & completely exquisite. They look heaven "scent." I made your raspberry ice cream last night. What a delicious treat, it turned out wonderful. Thank you for that recipe! XO
So beautiful, so happy you told us the names of roses, will try to find them.hope they have them on the gold coast Australia ….as ''Pam'' said above Have a good weekend! xx Pamela….heeheee
I, too, have a major lech for pink roses. I must have 20 different varieties; pale pink, dark pink, blush pink, cream-and-pink, stripy pink; you name it! "Sexy Rexy" is a beautiful, dependable rose, albeit w/o any fragrance. "Yves Piaget" is a deep pink, gloriously scented rose that almost looks like a peony. "Memorial Day" is a mauve-pink, very fragrant rose that's long/lived in a vase. "Our Lady of Guadalupe" is a pale pink floribunda that also smells marvellous, and looks great in a container. Ah…. I need to go potter in the garden!

I NEED to plant roses. I must admit…I have been gardening FOREVER, but I am still afraid to plant roses! Tips?

Do you have a bush rose that you peg?
Not enough space in my garden & it's always been the dream.
Your roses look like paintings.

As I am myself found of flea markets and antiques, and specially of old porcelain, I discovered your blog with great pleasure. "Très chic !" Stéphanie

Those cream roses with the light pink centers are to die for. I can almost smell the roses from here! Delightful, simply delightful.

Just gorgeous 🙂 I don't have one rose in my garden…:(. If I thought they would look like these beauties it would be a different matter!
