Today we officially announce the theme of the next Stylish French Box theme and giveaway, and it is an idea that is close to my heart.
We are calling this box our Blue and White Box. I remember when I first arrived in France as a young student, many many moons ago. And getting the distinct impression that there was a lot of blue in my daily living.
To begin with I was in Paris where I noticed the blue zinc rooftops that are so distinctive; the blue and white china that I bought at antique fairs, and the huge bunches of blue and white hydrangeas at the flower market.
As a student in Nice on the Cote d’Azur I was fascinated by the different blues of the seas and the sky. I fell in love with the old blue doors and shutters on the facades of the quaint houses in the old stone villages dotted along the coast.
And today my love for these colors continues. A flower arrangement in blue and white always seems to pop, and I love to lay a table with blue and white china, often mixing and matching antique plates. We use antique linens in all the bedrooms and on our table, and they are nearly always exclusively white.
In my garden, blue and white are dominant, in particular in the Spring when the beds in front of the terrace are full of white magnolia, wisteria, blue irises, blue agapanthus and some very-nearly-blue roses who I believe go under the name of Pacific Blue.
