August is a tricky time in the garden here in Northern France. The weather gets hotter, and this year we have a strong wind blowing, and the flowers are not so happy.
Of course I keep the free standing pots well watered, and make sure the roses are trimmed and watered too, but we are in between flowering seasons, and the pickings are more sparse than normal
This is a bouquet from the garden today. My ever faithful Polka roses who never disappoint , a couple of Abraham Darby buds, wisteria leaves and blush pink dahlias that are just starting to flower.
And then for some additional texture, I took Gibson for a walk and came home with some elderberries that are not quite ripe yet, and still at that in between colour as they turn from green, through pink and on to black. Plus a handful of a white flowering flower that grows along the road edge, and whose name I don’t even know!
This is a bouquet for no particular reason, other than the pleasure of bringing the outdoors indoors. A bouquet for you, to wish you a good week, and as always to thank you for reading me.

Beautiful – I am in the middle of an Australian Melbourne winter so these images bought the hint of summer to me on a grey old day.
They are truly beautiful flowers …
It was very windy here to and so much rain left a lot of my flowers lying on the floor .. so they to had to be picked !!! But look lovely inside the house … Happy Monday to you ..
Beautiful. I love the colors.
Dear Sharon, Thank you, for bringing such heavenly beauty from your blessed life and sending it into mine!
My sentiments precisely, Rosemary – especially on such a wild and wooly winter’s day in Perth, West Australia.
It was your beautiful bouquets that got me to try Dalhias which are blooming steadily in my garden.
Just gorgeous! Wish we were neighbors!
I just returned from touring France…awwwh fond memories are flowing back of Monet’s garden, the sunflower fields blanketed in lemon yellow, and those wonderful rolls of hay scattered throughout already harvested fields. You truly live amongst pure beauty!
Such a pretty combination! Excellent example of “use what you have.” (I’ll use some clematis stems, to trail among my roses.) As ever, thank you for the bouquet!
I love the color combination!
Truly beautiful

Your poppies are magnifique as is your entire site! My garden would welcome these beauties with open arms, we have a special spot just waiting for her loveliness. Every year I will lovely harvest her precious seeds for friends to scatter her sweet babies. While I inhale your entire site, I must say what is especially delightful is to receive one of your videos. Your voice is soothing. Sincerely yours….
Beautiful. I have learned from you to use what ever I can find in my flower arrangements but never thought of elderberries. Back to my bush today. I hope the birds don’t mind sharing. Enjoy your day.
Great day to you my dear!! I’m an amateur gardener, belonging to 2 locals, Herb Society & Twin City Garden Club. I never realized the beauty given to us as we rush thru life, until I retired. That’s when I came to my senses- now all I see is beauty surrounding me!! Especially in my own front & back yards!! Thank you for inspiring & sharing your world with myself & so many!! You’re a woman to love❤️
Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your thoughts and beautiful flowers with us.
hi sharon ~ so nice to see a post of your flowers. i’m remembering back and thinking they are what started it all so many years ago… wishing you a beautiful day 🙂
Thank you, Sharon, for a bit of beauty from your garden…from Northern France to Southern California!
What a lovely arrangement. Those colors together give a serene feeling. Would love to see more pictures of your gardens and raised beds so we can see it all in mass. Thanks so much!
Good evening Sharon, your August bouquet of flowers are beautiful. They remind me of flowers from a painting, subtle colour and an overflowing display.
I am currently planning a new garden, lots of work but I am excited to have a flowering garden next year. So in the meantime I can enjoy your flowers.
With warmest wishes,
Daphne
Absolutely gorgeous Sharon! Thank you for the lovely bouquet, you do create the best ones you know.X
We’ve had a beautiful summer here in Indiana. Trailing geraniums have been really beautiful and the sweet potato vine has gone crazy wild. I compare the beauty of northern France to Geneva, Switzerland when we lived there. We always loved visiting France. Now it’s all a wonderful memory.
Thanks so much for showing us the gorgeous bouquet, always love seeing all your flower photos. Then elderberries with all flower leaves give bouquet some lovely texture/color.
Admire you so much with your beautiful home and garden, being gardener just don’t have interest in, besides admiring the flowers. Never have.
Especially this Summer, has been extra hot with some humidity at times. Been having to convince myself to hang laundry out been so blasted hot.
Have lovely week Sharon
You made my day. Lovely colors!
Gorgeous arrangement. Every year when you show those dahlias I vow to get some for the garden, this year I am researching for my area.
Thanks, Pat
Oh yes, this summer the breezes in Brittany have been pretty wild, if I have to collect my pots of dahlias from their ‘landing sites’ one more time…
Such weird weather
But your flowers are doing better than mine 🙂
Hi Sharon, I know I’m a bit late with my comment, I love your bouquet the colours are just beautiful. Thank you for sharing beauty. Have a wonderful weekend. Regards Esther from Sydney.
It’s remarkable to pay a visit this website and reading the views of all friends
regarding this post, while I am also keen of getting know-how.
I love looking at your posts on the internet, but there is nothing like having a beautiful book in your hands!
Beautiful flowers. I can almost smell the fragrance. We are in the middle of a move from one house to another. The rose garden is no longer mine and the garden at our new house is in very sad shape. I’ve been tempted to buy flowers at the market but my vases are still in moving boxes. So, thank you for a happy boost of color and fragrance! I am inspired to get those vases out of storage.
Merci!
