Our first Burgundy tour drew to a close yesterday, and I am grateful to have hosted such a wonderful small group of guests, always interested, always appreciative and always smiling!
Showing them around this area of France has been a joy. Together we have discovered chateaux, taken cooking classes, visited artisan manufacturers, visited private homes and gardens and of course eaten well all along the way. Beaune is close to the centre of France. Its rolling hills and famous vineyards boasting some of the most legendary names in wine.
There are some outstanding restaurants in Beaune. Sometimes hidden, or off the beaten track, and I was glad to have spent time tracking down my favourites before the tour started. We also took time to shop for antiques, to picnic in the gardens of a chateaux and visit wine cellars.
I thought you’d like to see a few shots of our stay. Some of the moments that caught my eye, because a tour like this is not only about the itinerary, but also the little details along the way.

Such lovely photos, Sharon! My husband and I will be staying in Beaune for a week in September of this year. I would love to know your recommendations on restaurants. I admire everything about your blog and have both your books. I first learned of you years ago while visiting France and bought the magazine (can’t remember it’s name now) with the picture of your garden and your French Country Home name on the cover….love at first sight 🙂 You are so good at drawing us in and sharing your palpable love of the beauty and culture of France. Thank you and keep up the inspiring work!!
Just outside of Beaune is the lovely town of Puligny Montrachet. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the wine tour and accompanying wine tasting/lunch at Olivier Leflaive. We can highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys delicious food and wine. We were there in September of last year.

Beautiful! How delightful. I love that table that is at an angle. Nothing can stay on top of it. Also those swans. geese, ducks. What ever they are, they are delightful.
When in Beaune a visit to “The Cook’s Atelier” is a must! I just returned from a wonderful week at their
cooking school. They have a beautiful shop, full of treasures…old and new..plus .a gorgeous cookbook that
you won’t be able to resist! As Marjorie (the owner, with her daughter Kendall) says: “It’s all good!”
