my stylish french box nĀ° 2 – a giveaway

by Sharon Santoni

Excitement is building here as we are getting ready to pack and ship My Stylish French Box NĀ° 2!

We are so grateful for the way that the first box was received, that we want to say a big thank you and offer one of my readers the chance to win a box in May.

Our boxes are dispatched every three months, and the next box, which would be NĀ° 2, will be leaving here at the end of April to ensure an early delivery in May. Ā  Ā  Ā Each box follows a different theme, and contains totally new and different articles. Ā The contents of the box are always a surprise to increase your enjoyment and they are always full sized products, and never sample size. The theme for the May box will be “Smelling the Roses”, and I shall leave you to imagine the rest.

If you’re curious as to how the first box was received, we’ve added a Community Page to the box website for the comments and posts from our clients, press and influencers…

If you would like to take part in the giveaway and try to win a box for yourself or for a friend, simply sign up to the My Stylish French Box mailing list here, and leave a comment below. Ā  If you want to increase your chance of a win, then share the giveaway on your facebook or instagram page using the hashtag #mystylishfrenchbox. Ā  You are welcome to enter the giveaway in more ways than one, an entry for each time you share on your social media!

Winner announced April 5 !

Thank you for all your support and positive energy!

This reminds me of Hemingway’s book “We Will Always Have Paris.” I have been to Paris twice and miss it so much. These boxes allow us to always have Paris!

Reply
Jane Burg March 28, 2017 - 2:59 pm

I love and miss Paris! These lovely boxes allow us to “Always have Paris” as Hemingway wrote.

Reply
david terry March 28, 2017 - 8:12 pm

Not to go all entirely skoolmarmy on everyone, but?…..Hemingway didn’t write/never wrote “We’ll always have Paris”. The screenwriter for “Casablanca” did, and Humphrey Bogart got to say the words in the movie.

Hemingway did, indeed, write “a Moveable Feast”, but that was considerably less romantic and didn’t contain any lines that were 1/10th so memorable.

Advisedly yours as ever,

David Terry

Sharon,
I have a sweet devotion to St Therese of Lisieux, from Normandy. She loves roses and so do I. When I see or get an unexpected Rose I think of her and say a prayer. A box full of Rose anything and everything would be a blessing.
Thank you for considering me.

Dear Sharon,

Reading over this latest posting on your blog, as I sit here (alone, of course) in my tiny and very old home,, I can’t help but be made a very little bit happier by the thought of what I might do if I were to win of your “french boxes”.

Since the war, there has, of course, been very little money to “keep up” the basic necessities (such as heat, food, and light), much less any to purchase any pretty gifts whatsoever for friends and relations to whom I would like to display a tangible manifestation of the enormous gratitude I feel towards them for giving me shelter when all but the back wing was blown out and burnt down…..and even that was before all the death duties came due. “The Troubles”, indeed…..

As things stand, I’m simply trying to hold the “place” together (not to mention my own health, which is increasingly failing on an hourly basis). But I say nothing of that; it doesn’t do to seem to complain. People find it tiresome. So, I don’t ever complain.

All of that said?….I have to sincerely thank you for the enormous (if, of course, entirely imaginative) pleasure your posting has given me. While I could never, in my present, utterly reduced circumstances, afford to purchase one of your lovely boxes, it is “fun”, I suppose, to imagine and dream about my humbly giving it to one of the many kind friends and/or relatives who have generously provided me with assistance during this last, and most troubling (emotionally, financially, healthwise, etcetera) final period of my life.

I may not (don’t, actually) have much….but it does provide me some diversion/pleasure to consider (if only in my meager imagination) to whom I would give such a box if such a box were given to undeserving Little Me.

I do sincerely hope that whoever receives this “gift box” will enjoy it and herself and all of her pleasures. She will be a very lucky woman, and I do hope that she will be properly grateful in the prospect of her continuing health, prosperity, French Gift Boxes, and general good fortune.

Some of us have not, are not, and presumably will not be so lucky.

It would be selfish of me to hope otherwise.

Best Wishes, and as sincerely as ever,

David Terry (bachelor)

I almost didn’t leave a comment (because I have the worst luck with contests), but then I thought I didn’t want to pass up an opportunity to tell you how much I love your blog and your Instagram account. Your pictures never fail to brighten my day, and every time I look at one of your pictures, I feel like I get to enjoy a little piece of the paradise my parents called home many years ago. I love the idea of My Stylish French Box, and I know the gifts in each box are delightful. My mother just turned 89 and my father turned 92. If I win, I will share the lovely gifts from France with them. Thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures with us.

“May Day”. Is a special memory for me. Our grammer grade teacher designed a “May Day” pole with pink, blue and green ribbons and all the girls wore pretty dresses, mine was white dotted Swiss, and we danced around the pole holding on to a ribbon. A May box would remind me to leave a flower Bouquet on my friends door on May 1st., send my sister a Birthday card and my daughter a sweet gift, as their birthdays are in May, so maybe a Stylist French Box will be in the mail to them.

Being in the hospital, again, for my husband’s heart issues, this makes me smile. Why? 42 years ago when we were dating I used to wear rose perfume and send him letters on rose scented paper. He loved the fragrance of roses and it reminds us of our time together back then. Everything is beautiful, especially your photos. We would love to visit France one day and make it right. We finally were able to visit in 2015 with him being sick at the time, not knowing what it was, so we lost out on really being able to enjoy the amazing experience like we would have otherwise. So our dream is to one day to return!

Reply
david terry March 30, 2017 - 2:15 pm

Hey “Cece”…..

I just read your lovely comment (Sharon does, indeed, seem to attract smart and nice readers).

Having read your comment?….my first thought is that you don’t need to “make it right”; it sounds to me (sitting here in North Carolina, USA) as though you and your husband already have it “right”…..which is a far rarer thing to jetting off to France (as I did for years with my French partner)3 or 4 times per year.

Best Wishes to you and your lucky (at least in terms of his choice of wives, insofar as I can gather)husband….

I mean that quite sincerely,

David Terry http://www.davidterryart.com

Reading over these comments, Sharon?….I’m sincerely struck by how many genuinely nice readers you obviously have……ones who immediately/spontaneously talk about how fun it would be to share one of your boxes with a sister, parents, etcetera.

I should emphasize that my previous, faux-pathetic appeal was just a joke; in my opinion, I’ve won way too many “give-aways” and contests to be eligible for any more.

Still?……you have some very nice & kind folks as readers.

sincerely,

My husband and I had a magical trip to Giverny and stayed at La Pluie des Rose guesthouse. We are unable to take any more trips to France as he suffered a severe stroke ten months ago. The gift box would be a beautiful reminder of that trip when we were surrounded by roses and the magic of Monet.

Dear Sharon,

I would love this as a gift for a lovely lady in our country town who is allowing us to host a free Easter egg hunt for local children. It is a child safe environment in the most stunning garden, but that is being selfish. However I would really like to see David Terry receive it as I can sense what a lovely man he is and I know that he would be gifting someone who likewise would really appreciate it.

Reply
david terry March 29, 2017 - 9:08 pm

Dear Jackie….
Thanks….but I don’t get to win anything this time around. I’m already friends with Sharon. Although we’ve never met in person, I’ve happily spoken with her over the telephone several times over the past few years, painted her daughter, and just generally admire her and her work.

I greatly admire folks who find a way to MAKE something good/productive happen….as Sharon has obviously done for herself and her readers with “My French Country Home”.

I do happen to be a guy, so I’m terribly interested in the “girly” aspect of certain things (to be vague about the matter), but I do admire Sharon and her work.

She is very good (it seems to come naturally to her) at sharing and spreading the joy, isn’t she?

Quite sincerely,

David Terry

Sharon, Let me begin with a thank you for all of your inspiration on your Instagram, your blog, your beautiful book, your flower arranging and your must see videos (that I have watched over and over). My Stylish Friend Box is just another beautiful way to share with us Your French County Life and loves. I love the theme of Box no. 2 “Smelling the Roses” … who doesn’t love roses. The now famous and much loved quote by Claude Monet comes to mind.. “I must have flowers, always and always.” And since his home is so close to yours, I thought it appropriate. I send you a boquet of gratitude, always, and always. xx RiĆ©

Lucky you, arriving on D-Day! Are you American? If so, did you know that you can reserve a time/day to lower the flag at the cemetery in the late afternoon as Taps is played? We set up a time so that my husband could do that . . . so very touching and meaningful and truly unforgettable for him!

I love your joie de vivre that comes through in all the projects you undertake as each one is something of ‘simple pleasures’ and your use of the talents God gave you. Do hope you will consider writing a spring/summer short story for us once more.

It brings joy to my heart when I hear ‘stop and smell the roses’… do you know of all the essential oils available that rose oil has the highest frequencies? Also our Lady, Blessed Mother is known as the ‘Rose of Sharon’.

May the winner feel the love and joy you put into this your second box and the winner will be twice blessed because of your kindness; I know i would be. Bless you.
