A beautiful spring Sunday here, friends over for lunch and …. I finished re-upsholstering the bed YAY!
Now, next time I say “I’ll just re-cover this bed,” would you please tell me to stop talking rubbish and to think again.
It took me far longer than I thought! However, it’s all over now and I’m fairly pleased with the result. And just look at the fun we had with it today.
Before we moved the bed into the guest cottage (through a window!) I couldn’t resist the temptation of the sunshine and the last of the snowdrops and my latest old french sheets and… and …and …
As you can see I used one of my monogrammed sheets to cover the bedhead and foot. The position of the embroidery on the sheet meant that the letters had to be placed on the foot of the bed, but I like that. The central seam you see is because the sheet is over 100 years old. The very old sheets were made up of two narrow widths of material, handsewn together with invisible stitches.

I even had an unexpected offer of help!
Thank you Iris! that pony always needs to know what’s going on.

I have always loved the idea of a real daybed under the trees in the garden, maybe this summer I should work more on the idea. The problem being that if I had one like this, I’d never get anything done.
Tomorrow I’ll explain how I did this little project.
A demain, sweet dreams!

It is stunning. We never see things like that here in Canada…..I would so have a nap right there in the sunshine…..Your idea of the vintage monnogramed sheet was brilliant….what a find and what a great job you did on it.
Ok, the setting in your yard among the snowdrops with Iris is FREAKING AMAZING! You did a fabulous job on that bed Sharon, really wonderful, I would be proud to own that myself. While I’ve done light upholstery myself I would love to see how you got the sheets so tight on your frame. You did an excellent job, love it. But it would be in my bedroom and not the guest cottage!
REALLY BEAUTIFUL the monograms look heavenly enjoy your dreams fay xx
Interested….smiles

Wow that bed is downright dreamy! I wish I could jump in for an afternoon nap..ahhh, I can just visualize now, a cool afternoon breeze, little birds chirping, crisp linen sheets…perfection:)

Hi Sharon.
This is truly amazing. I like the idea of displaying the real bed under the tree.
Looks so lovely. You did a great job with the upholstery.

Sharon,
Perfect demonstration of a vision coming to fruition. You are spot on with your choices of color combinations and textures. Even Iris appreciates it!
Look forward to learning how it was done. Beautiful job!

What a lovely bed, and what great photos! I love the one with the horse. It just makes you feel like you want to be there.
I want to re-upholster my headboard, so I'm looking forward to your tutorial.

Love it, love everything about it. I really like the doona cover and slips I have been looking everywhere for something like that. Sharon, you should be very proud of yourself, the detail is wonderful.
This is so beautiful. I always admire the work of re-upholstering because I have no idea how to do that. I especially love the pony with the bed. I recognize the Ikea bedding. I had a white iron daybed in our garden for one summer and then the rains came and rusted it so we gave it away. I miss it and would like to get a smaller one someday. My children and their friends loved lounging on it.
Love this!
You did such a beautiful job on the bed!
Oh you must be so happy with it, and that pony..gorgeous!!!
You put in in through the window? That must be a story in itself 🙂
Lovely!

WOW, you did an excellent job. I bet you're proud of the result (you should be, by the way). Great idea to use the vintage monogrammed sheets. I'm so glad you took some pictures of it in the garden which is also looking so nice in the eve of spring (I'd probably would have been too lazy to put it up outside, then disassemble it again to move it inside). Love it!!! … and the pony.
Oh my,that is so so beautiful! Cant wait to see how you did it. It might inspire me for recovering a couch. Can an ordinary person do it? Fiona
Wow! You did an amazing job on that bed. It is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Can't wait for your tutorial.

Sigh! What a romantic bed!
Ok. First the bed in itself is stunning, but with the monogrammed sheet, it's out of this world! The soft grey colour is perfect and so is the bedding you picked. But the little pony is the most serendipitous touch of all! What a sweetie! Wouldn't it be nice to wake up outside every morning and be greeted by such a lovely creature?
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!! What a lot of work, and you did it so well, it looks sooooo great!!!!
Hugs,

Love the bed Sharon
We can buy beds like this here.. but one must part with an awful lot of cash to do so…
I absolutely LOVE the horse in the shot.. just perfect!!! might scare you if you have a nap.. haha.. i recently stayed at my brother house on an air mattress on the floor.. a couple of times I woke during the night and had the sensation someone was looking at me.. when i opened my eyes.. their dog was staring at me.. inches from my face.. hahaaha.. crazy dog..
Have fun!!! xxxxx Julie
This is gorgeous, Sharon! I love, love, love the vintage embroidered monogram you used in the upholstering.
who wouldn't have lovely dreams in that bed???
Oh so pretty! I would love to have this bed…I will always think of it as i search for one of my own.

Dear Sharon,
how beautiful to read your posts again!
I've missed so much.
And look at this bed, beautiful! I can't believe you have done all that by your own….you're incredible my friend!
Little Giovanni is growing fast and he is already 22 days old…can you believe that?
