a fun weekend and a special client’s loot shoot

by Sharon Santoni
This weekend has been FUN !   I have been doing one of my favourite things, namely helping a client to shop, and this girl really knows how to shop!
Jennifer came all the way from Australia where she has a beautiful brocante stand called Vintage Finds in the Woolloongabba Antique Centre in Queensland.  She sells from her stand and also supplies local architects and interior designers with special pieces that she finds in France.
I am very flattered because, although she has come shopping in France before, this was the first time she ventured out of Paris.  The day and half flew by as we zoomed around Normandy, visiting my favourite dealers.
So come and take a closer look at her loot!  I love her eclectic choice, and I love that no two clients buy the same stuff, but they each have their individual style.

A dominant feature of Jen’s shopping were letters; huge, tiny, painted, metallic, we managed to bring home a pretty impressive selection …..

These beautiful zinc flowers were from an ornate roof top decoration

I  took Jen to visit dealers with contrasting styles.
In one, she considered a baby grand piano …..
at another she was tempted by drawers … alot of drawers
and later on she hesitated on this rather wonderful fairground sign
If you want to see more of Jen’s pictures and find out about her brocante shop, you can also visit her facebook page.
And to those of you who have wondered how it works when I’m shopping with clients if we both want the same thing; here is the answer:  my client always gets first dibs!
Proof?  This picture is the sum total of my personal loot shoot!…
Small is beautiful?!
Wishing you all a great week ahead.[blank]

It is fun to shop when each looks for a different item and it makes us see through the eyes of our fellow shopper. We can all learn

All those letters make my heart beat faster. Love the zinc flower detail, too. But I think your find of labels is sweet, too.

Is there export duty for taking stuff out of France? It seems like there is so much available, yet I wonder when the supply will dry up. Maybe I need to get over there fast! Shopping with you would be so much fun!

Oh, I had fun with this post; it was almost (almost?!!) as good as being there. I luv-luv the children's wooden blocks in the little box; also the fairground sign. And those tiny monogrammed/alphabet (applique?) hearts you found? So precious. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my…fun, fun stuff! And what is it about letters? They are so popular and everywhere! I've never seen any that big, though!

I'm curious about something … are there as many antique looking reproductions in France as there are in the US? And are your collectables the real deal?

HI Cheryl

Please be reassured, there is NOTHING reproduction in these pictures! In fact I wouldn’t even know where to find repro antiques here. This is all the real stuff, even though it is becoming more difficult to find.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment

best wishes

Oh my goodness, I see such treasures in the loot! Wish I could have come. I love the blocks, I think that's what they are. I sure enjoy my visit to France through your blog. Almost as good as being there, almost!

Enjoy your week.

PLEASE, Sharon, tell me about the red embroidered initials and numbers. I have seen them on so many french craft blogs but nowhere has it been stated what/where/why/who and how much they are – let alone how I can buy them. My daughter will be traveling in France in September and I would love to have her return with some for me!

Thank you,

Do you live in Paris or the country? Do you have a menu of service charges for group tours or single tours? While I may not do much buying, the pleasure of seeing such great relics is a highlight of my life. May be in Paris and London within the next month. My home is in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Best,
Margie
