As we were out and about this weekend, we drove through some really pretty villages and some breathtaking forest.
I thought you may enjoy a little armchair tourism, here are some of the shots I took along the way.
As we drove a little way north from here, they were less stone houses and more bricks and beams. I love the colours used for the shutters, and the sweet fenced gardens.
The entry to the village church here was quite impressive, and the beautiful house next door, today an antique store, was probably once the church presbytery.
Take a close look at this home made gate. Can you see all the different things that have been used to make it? Iron plaques from fireplaces, grills, even a frying pan!
After leaving that village we got back out to open country, and came across these beautiful homes, in the middle of nowhere – so tranquil.

Hope you enjoyed this little bit of rural France to start off your week – en douceur!

I love the estates in the country. Thanks for sharing.
C'est beau! So tranquil and green in Normandy! A very entertaining drive. A very inspiring start to our Monday! Have a good day!
BREATHTAKING! I could go with my camera in hand for a week and just be happy driving around. How stunning!
It brings back memories of my bicycle ride through France last year that began in Normandy. It's so beautiful there.
I enjoyed seeing your photos of a part of France which I don't know, thank you for sharing
so beautiful, and I see what I am missing living in the sub tropics….sighhhhh.
Beautiful pictures, Maggie! I've always thought that Normandy looks like one of the prettiest regions of France. My husband and I always take an armchair tour of France every summer by watching the Tour de France.
I love the half-timbered style of home, and the homemade garden fence is quite interesting. 🙂 Hope you have a great week!

My apologies, Sharon! I thought I was looking at Maggie in Normandy's blog; I follow both your blogs. Have you seen Maggie's blog? She's also from Britain.

Beautiful – it's all so well tended and tidy. People obviously take a lot of pride in their surroundings in Normandy, which is wonderful to see!

Beautiful images. They are so calming and peaceful looking. I've always thought it would be a wonderful vacation to visit the rural areas outside of the larger cities to get a feel for what I think the French tradition is all about.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures, I can never seem to get enough! I get to be a looky-loo (which I totally am) at the expense of your camera!

Thank you! I did indeed enjoy the mini tour of rural France; it certainly doesn't look like anything where I live, and it's completely beautiful!
