house for sale in a pretty normandy village

by Sharon Santoni

Now here, I think, is a little house that will get you dreaming – again – about moving to France.
This pretty home is in a picturesque village, just an hour from Paris yet well in the country.  It has been entirely redecorated and renovated to a high standard and comprises four bedrooms and two bathrooms in the main house, with further  space in a guest cottage.

The garden is very manageable, while still being large enough for a potager, and for dining al fresco …  besides the guest house, there is also a garage, a wine cellar and another building useful for a workshop or studio.

I love the bedrooms in this home, their soft neutral palette makes them chic but still welcoming …

The house was built in 1928, and lays on a quiet road, just a short distance from this lovely view.  If you’d like to have any further information or be put into touch with the owners, just drop me a line

In answer to the question you may be asking yourselves – no!  I am not in real estate, not do I stand to earn any commission on the homes I show for sale.  It is simply that folks around here sometimes hear about the blog, and ask if I would like to mention a house they are trying to sell.[blank]

You are such a good neighbor. Not only are you putting a plug in for selling their homes on your blog, you also bring your readers a view of the lovely French countryside and the homes people live in. This is such a soothing looking home, I love everything about it. Your photos are wonderful! 🙂 If I were rich I'd buy this one!

I love the crisp white and grays and the uncluttered interiors, not to mention the fabulous setting. Le sigh.

Sharon?….if you're not "in real estate" or making any sort of commission?….well, you SHOULD.

Before finally (after six years of desultorily and increasingly-dispirtedly searching for an old property)Herve andI bought this 220 year old, wonderful place this past June. Before then, however?….we dealt with all sorts of real-estate folks, who mostly ranged between the irritating, the manipulative, the "hard-sell" sort, and the merely ignernt.

By contrast (and quite like the real estate lady from whom we finally bought this house), you seem well-informed, sincerely enthusiastic, and capable.

Perhaps you SHOULD be a real-estate agent….if you can manage wearing yet another hat, so to speak, on top of the five or so vocational/family hats you're already wearing. I and Herve would certainly trust your instincts.

Quite sincerely,

David Terry

Love your house for sale posts. I love Brittany too. Esp Brehat and Pont Aven. My son has lived in France/Amsterdam since 1992, and was recently on a 3-week Brittany coast/islands trip…emailed me 100+ photos. Just gorgeous.

Merci!

What a lovely house! I love the garden and the look of the house from the outside. All of the rooms are nicely done but I think my favourite rooms would have to be the living room/dining room and the 2 bedrooms shown.
It's amazing the number of women who daydream about France. From those who are lucky enough to actually visit and spend time there and the super lucky ones who eventually live and have businesses there to those like me who escape each day to France via My French Country Home and French Essence. I've planted a rose bush and will plant more. I am slowly transforming my neglected back garden. I'm now making my own cushion covers with fabrics that have a French look. I've printed many of your recipes and can't wait to start baking…..Merci!

I guess you’re right. I’m lost in my dreams again. The suburbs really got me, you know. And to think it was just an hour away from Paris, of all cities! Though, living in that dream place is nearly impossible. I live oceans away from France (huhu). And the thought of buying a house abroad terrifies me, not being accustomed to the foreign finance and mortgage system. So, I guess some other family will have to enjoy that for me. 🙂
