turquoise for an autumn vignette

by Sharon Santoni

The day is fairly grey here and this morning I badly needed a shot of colour.  A quick tour of the garden revealed that very few blooms have survived our early frosts, so I knew that I’d have to rely on what I had to hand.

I quickly assembled some of my favourite objects in the house, painted trays, old and frayed books, a small oil painting and of course some jugs.
I don’t know why jugs are so easy and such fun to collect, but people world over seem to assemble them on shelves, in groups, or on their table.  A jug can be mismatched, can be unique, it can even be chipped, it still holds its charm.
I tried to use some turquoise pieces to match the colours of the old books.

The simplest flowers: rusty hydrangeas and the very last dahlias and that is it.  My entrance hall looks a little more welcoming for the weekend.

Even Ghetto was willing to pose in the vignette, so it can’t all be bad!

Bonjour Ghetto! Always a delight to see you, cher Monsieur! 🙂 Love your turquoize pieces. They "pop." Here in Seattle's suburbia where so much looks either grey (the sky) or dark green (some trees and the ubiquitous moss,) I have decorated my living room with touches of turquoize and orange. It is a "happy room" year round. Bon weekend, Sharon. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

Ghetto makes a great model! Such a lovely vignette, Sharon. That first photo looks like a still life painting. Happy weekend to you and your family – the two-legged and four-legged ones, too. XO

Hello Ghetto, you're a natural infront of the camera. The vignette is very pretty. Everything looks natural together. The dahlias look beautiful in the turquoise, white and cream jugs.

Sharon,

What a lovely vignette, the pretty flowers, and the turquoise looks so bright and cheery arranged on the table. At first, I thought Ghetto was a stuffed dog because he was sitting so still! HAH He is so adorable!

I hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
