Flowers for the holidays

by Sharon Santoni

[blank]Back again after a week of rest and family time for Christmas.   A huge thank you to everyone who has been by here while I was away, and thank you especially for your kind Christmas wishes.[blank]

[blank]
[blank]Don’t you love this week between Christmas and New Year?  A sort of hiatus, where the daily routine is put on hold, and it feels like we’ve stopped in time.[blank]
[blank]For us, this weekend marks a pause between guests and entertaining, and it’s always a moment when I like to freshen up the Christmas decor and start to prepare for New Year’s Eve.[blank]
[blank]I found these stunning double Amaryllis, totally dreamy and soft coloured.  They started as a large bouquet in a giant vase but with the warmth of the house several of the stems snapped, so I changed them to individual jars and scattered Christmas baubles around them.[blank]
[blank] I hope that your holidays are peaceful and enjoyable,
no matter how many mouths there may be to feed.[blank]

I always loved these flowers but never remembered to buy the bulb and start on time. This year when I went to the store they had them, almost ready to bloom. I just love it!!! Yours are so beautiful. Everything you do is beautiful. Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family.

Beautiful flowers & amazing photography Sharon!
I have had Amaryllis blooming in our house throughout December. For Christmas I had stunning pink Amaryllis for our dining room table centerpiece.
As one pot of flowers starts fading, another pot starts to bloom. I was just thinking this morning (as I watered the Amaryllis & Paperwhites) that I need more to get me through the next 4 months of winter, as we currently have a foot of snow from back-to-back storms! I will be seeking out the double Amaryllis at our local garden center, or online if necessary.
Best wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year to you and your family!

Love love love those white double amaryllis. Makes me want to stick my head at the monitor, inhale and drink in their beauty. Although, I'd been told to stop sticking my head at the monitor, until someone invented a "smell-a-vision" model. Glad to know your Christmas hiatus was wonderful!

Very beautiful pictures of exceptional flowers! I often use your bouquet photos as my desk top pics. Thanks for this new one for a New Year and for a blog that I so love reading. One of my resolutions is keep working on my French. Pulling out the Rosetta stone. Your posts will serve as a gentle reminder- along with French Essense and others! Bonne Annee!
