french grey for a gentle christmas

by Sharon Santoni
Loving this picture of a soft and gentle christmas theme for a baby’s or child’s room.     These felt stars could not be easier to make,  just cut out the shapes, sew them together and fill with a little stuffing before closing completely.  Add a few sequins or beads for some extra sparkle.  Attach the stars to a length of ribbon and string them up against a wall or a window.
Of course the picture works especially well with the antique child’s bed and the soft colours for the bedding.
The grey woodwork emphasizes the soft impression of this pretty wreath made from eucalyptus leaves. I love the dark grey ribbon hanging across the shape.

And finally a simple string of beads and stars added to this chandelier, gives an immediate and festive feel.

What simple ideas are you using this year to decorate your home for christmas?[blank]

Hi Sharon. I love these beautiful muted colours and tones. Very chic – but also wonderfully festive!

Best wishes, Alex

Gorgeous – so peaceful and soothing, just like when the first snow falls and blankets the outside. My family traditionally has very lively colors at Christmas, which is a departure from what I usually like, but much cherished at this time of year!

I have bowls of pomegranates, lemons, and oranges and the stray ornament all over my home. Some are pedestal bowls, some are crystal some are wooden. In addition, I took one of your fabulous ideas and nestled votive candles in tartlet molds next to the fruit/ornament bowls to add some sparkle. I am definitely going with the less is more thing this year as I started to decorate very late. Thanks for your inspiration.

I came home yesterday with paint swatches in Grey colors and
your post just gave me the incentive to go for it… My home
is white of different shades and I do love it but the walls
need a pick me up and I've been leaning to grey, muted or?
I think I'll start with the powder room then after the Holidays
will get to the other rooms.. thank you!
Love your photos..
Happy Holidays
Sandy

I love the star idea and the beads on the chandelier so simple and pretty. I just brought back some fresh pine branches and made a couple of decorative swags with a simple red and white checkered ribbon, pine cone and candy cane. Quick, simple, and easy. 🙂

That first image of the bunnies tucked in the covers, stars hanging above, is so pleasing; indeed, soft and gentle. I just love it.

Just wanted to repeat how much I'm enjoying your wintry header with the snow flurries scattering/falling across my screen; always makes me smile every time I pull up your blog!

I just added the stars as a DIY advent calender. It is an easy project to do over the holidays and yes I love your felt version in a childs' room.
