hopes and wishes for 2013 …..

by Sharon Santoni

[blank]Do you have a list of new year resolutions drawn up and pinned to your kitchen wall?!  Not me!

I’m not really wild about the word “resolution” … mostly because I have a pretty pathetic track record when it comes to sticking to them.
So to protect myself from accusations of failure a few months down the line, I’m joining in with Marsha from Splenderosa’s monthly party who is inviting us to think about what is right and what is wrong with the world.

Since one of my all-year-round resolutions is to be positive, I don’t really want to list what is wrong with the world, but rather to pin up my wish list for the new year.  Some practical ideas that I can realistically adhere to, and hopefully improve the world a little at the same time

 laugh more – moan less
waste less – live in a more eco-friendly manner
more generosity –  less selfishness
more open-mindedness  –  less prejudice
less deciding for others – more listening to them instead
more time with real people and less in front of a screen![blank]
[blank]and finally, if you don’t mind, one very personal wish
… that this year I find some time to paint![blank]

[blank]Thank you for reading me, if you would like to see what other bloggers wish for, then pop over to Splenderosa and take the tour!

I'm joining your 'wish list, Sharon!
Nothing can go wrong in 2013 with positive thinking.

Greetings from the Périgord to Normandy,
Karin

Oh – a bit belated – BONNE ANNEE!

Taking time to do something for yourself like time to paint, will give you the energy to take on the other 'wishes'. Enjoy.

The best attitude and one that I have adhered to in my 'By Invitation' post. There is no point , dwelling on the bad things in the world …… we all know that they're there. Much better to look at all of the wondeful things that the world gives us and to be grateful for them.
Have a wonderful 2013 Sharon and I hope that it is full of love and kindness and lots of time for painting. XXXX

Now these are my kind of resolutions! 🙂 Our posts are different but the images used to illustrate them quite similar…isn't that interesting?

I start each year with a new inspiration board.
Amazing whenn I look back at other years of boards, how much we change, without knowing it.

Love your list Sharon – insightful, wise and more importantly doable! For me, I would add more sleep – less energy slumps, more reading – less tv. I'm also trying to kick a bad habit (biting my nails when stressed), add a good habit (3 sun salutations every morning), and 20 minutes of excercise daily – all (again) doable! Hoping your year has started out great, Cynthia

Dear Sharon,
your list of good ideas for 2013 is so wonderful, it could be also my list.
Painting is my favorite thing, it's like meditate. Take you time for it.
A lot of greetings from Germany (therefore my bad english) and best wishes for 2013
Christine

Love your ideas! This year, I'm going to follow the advice of a poster I saw:

"Keep calm and write on!" I'm going to focus much more of my time on writing. I had an essay accepted for publication in the Briar Cliff Review (May 2013) and want to continue that trend, and also to make great progress on my memoir book.

Oh yeah, and I want to go on one of your brocante tours with my Mom and her friend Wanda… 🙂

Beautiful resolutions…I have been spending a little too much time in front of the screen (trying to evade real life..) I hope you find the inspiration, the colors and the time to paint.

Your list is perfect. Positivity is a very good quality. I agree with you on making resolutions…I get so down when I don't achieve something that is probably impossible for anyone to achieve!!

Jane

I love that you want to take time to paint…it's very theraputic and fun!! I don't make many resolutions, I hardly ever follow through. But, I have set a "theme" for this year. I want to be happy. Find happiness in all things, change my outlook and thought patterns. It's feeling good so far!

Yes, I want to be more positive…it just feels good and it makes others feel good, too. At least it makes me feel good to be around someone whose glass is half full rather than half empty! Seeing the bright side of things makes me more hopeful! Please take time to paint…I want to see your works of art on your blog! :))

I so agree – your list typifies what I have also been thinking, plus drink more water, eat less sugar, avoid office politics and gossip, read more books (last year disappeared before I had completed half my reading "wants"), finish my knitting projects, create some heirloom quilts of my own, surround myself with positive people/vibes!
Looking forward to it. Now let's see that painting!

I would add more sport and respect for the body. Each day some time for meditation.

My list Sharon is not to work so hard and paint much more since painting IS my business. Painting for fun is so good for the soul but I must say when you turn it into a business it does become stressful at times. Less stress and more balance in my life is my ultimate goal.
