dreaming of french chateaux

by Sharon Santoni
[blank]Day dreaming is fun; an idea tucked away in a corner of our mind, ready to be brought out and toyed with during the quieter moments of the day.
Here are a  few images for you to hold in your mind today and dream about.[blank]
[blank]All over France, there are chateaux for sale, some in a better state of repair than others, many in  dreamy settings, or with fabulous outbuildings.[blank]

This 18th century chateau is for sale in my part of the world.  I am amazed by its size, not exactly my idea of a cosy family home, but there is a beauty and a splendour to its architecture.

They say it needs work but can be lived in.  I am warmed by the signs of the original woodwork and detail, untouched by the centuries.[blank]
[blank]

The views look outstanding, and the library …. well what can I say?!   Just imagine reading here, or blogging from a desk in that room!

No more words from me …  I leave you to enjoy your own dreams, imagining how daily life would be in a chateau such as this.

And finally I have an apology for you, dear bloggers.   Yesterday one of my regular readers wrote to me, very kindly, pointing out a couple of spelling and grammatical mistakes in my latest post.  I know that this happens now and again; life just catches up with me and I don’t always re-read myself with enough care.
I prefer to be corrected than for the mistakes to remain, so if you notice something and you have the patience to let me know, then thank you, I’ll do the necessary straightaway.[blank]

Beautiful! Not small or cozy at all but grand and beautiful. We all have typos – we're bloggers and it happens. Don't let it get you down!

Dreamy indeed!
As for the grammar… I am permanently making errors… it's so hard to write and edit yourself… I just hope that we all understand the underlying message… which I am sure we do… 🙂 xv

A châteaux may be a little too large for me, but it was really fun to explore and dream.

Writers have editors. Bloggers do not have that luxury, not to mention autocorrect that can do us in. As long as it is kindly worded I fine with someone correcting me. We all want to be correct, but I don’t want anyone being mean spirited. Please don’t let it cause you angst, we come for the beauty.

There is no inadvertent spelling or grammatical error that can compare with the deliberate rudeness of pointing one out to a fellow adult.

As I looked at all the dreamy photos today, I thought that I just have to send you a note to thank you for all of the work it takes to come up with a daily post, and one that is always beautiful and imaginative. You have a way of providing such variety for us, and never seem to run out of ideas. Then I read that someone has criticized your writing . . . on one post? How insensitive! Please Sharon, carry on without another thought about this!

I feel its quite sad that any of your readers would think to point out any spelling errors. We turn to your blog for your Joie de vivre outlook on life & style, not any grammar or spelling issues. Do not think to ever change anything …better yet…create more errors wherever possible.

Thank yu for your support ladies, but please don't get me wrong. I didn't mind at all that a reader corrected me! I'm just lucky to have readers that care!! 🙂

Far better to have a daily posting from you, however much in haste, than to have none at all. I'm with ArchitectDesign in finding it rather rude for someone to point that out as it may cramp your style, and errors aren't exactly a daily feature of your beautiful blog. It must have been a Lynn Truss wannabe.

What a gorgeous chateaux! The photo of the sunrise would make a good PC wallpaper; I might end up day dreaming all day though!

As someone who cringes when I discover an error in an already posted blog, I empathize with your desire to be corrected – gently. How kind of the reader to email you privately. That said, blogs are more spontaneous than other websites or writings. Errors are easily overlooked by your devoted readers.

To dream of the life one could live in that chateau is a lovely past time.

Dear Sharon,

Spelling mistakes……???? It is possible you are in the pursuit of perfection but your spelling and grammar is not what I think makes this blog perfect.

I have just spent the last 10 minutes dreaming about French Chateau, I even emailed my Husband the link. I can't believe the price compared to Australian property or indeed other French properties….I guess the real cost is in the maintenance….but lovely to dream….thank you Sharon.

Such fun to go on line and look at an old chateau and imagine living there, renovating, decorating and deciding what to do with the gardens.
Realistically though, I would just love to hold a party there with caterers so I wouldn't have to worry about that side of it. A masquerade party would be great fun. Maybe even stay one night. That would be a dream come true for me.

Be still my heart . . . I think I would love to tackle making that large chateau cozy inside. In fact, I think it does look liveable now. Love the view, and that library! You know, several of us could go together and purchase it–it looks large enough to hold a few families 🙂

Thanks for the lovely daydream!

Hi Sharon!!!

Well, my friend…I'm not looking for perfection. I'm looking at a wonderful Blog that allows me to visit France in a way that I couldn't see, unless I physically went there. So, I get from you, your knowledge of art, taking us on trips to days gone by in beautiful chateaus, where the country side is but a dream to when these french aristocrats would dance in the beautiful french sunset in the most gorgeous gowns.

I am a diabetic and when I have trouble with my blood sugars, for days after, I have trouble with my thoughts, my speech and my grammar when typing. We are not perfect and as visitors to your beautiful world, we don't expect perfection from someone who lives in a imperfect world.

Thank you for letting us into your beautiful world!!!! And I look forward to many more beautiful blog pages from you my friend.

Lovely chateaux ! Buying price is very reasonable but maintenance and heating etc will be very expensive. I live in a big historic house and love it, but we would have lots more disposable cash if we moved to a smaller or modern house. There is always a list of work needing done and lots of our spare time is spent working on the house.

Sharon, this blog is one of the few I have stayed with. I get lots of ideas for my home and your posts make me happy. Some blogs are impossible to deal with because they are so badly written. I've always found this one to be well written.

Looking forward to some beautiful Easter posts.

Sharon, your blog is wonderful. I've been following it silently for several yrs now & I love what you write about & your pictures. Forget the person who was correcting your spelling. How petty & in poor tast & ill-mannered to correct you indeed.

Don't worry if in your haste to write your wonderful thoughts you make a few errors. We know what you are saying & love every word!

Gorgeous to say the least & my take on that person who corrected your spelling, etc, needs a spanking, a life & needs to get a grip on being so rude in general. That person should be so caught up in your beautiful photos and your eloquent writing that they should not see anything of the sort! I'm offended for you. XO
