seven days to spring ??!!

by Sharon Santoni
It snowed all day yesterday   … wait a minute!

we are seven days from spring and

it SNOWED ALL DAY yesterday  !!!

Aaarrgh!  my poor daffodils, all ready to bloom, my poor magnolia, in bud and just waiting at the starting line ,  that’s it – I have had enough of snow, I want the spring  ..  NOW!!
Trying to look on the bright side, I suggested to the dogs that
at least the snow provided a good photo opp  …. ahem!
Gibson, aka the angel, lay down and posed for the lens.  It is uncanny how he recognises the camera!
Ghetto, aka the …. well, it’s best if I don’t say it here …. just did not
understand  why Gibson was being so boring and obedient.
He jumped around, pulled Gibson’s ears; tried to throw snow at him; pretended
 to find something really interesting; pretended to run away even;
but Gibson was not having it.
I’m telling you, that dear  Gibson deserves a special BLOG DOG award!
   ” are we done now?”

Sharon
I share your winter angst! We just had a major snowstorm that dumped 18 inches of cement that just looked like snow on us. It did so much damage to my trees and fences! Sigh…within days of having made it through winter unscathed! I am with you – bring on spring! Ghetto and Gibson are so true to their breeds in their personalities – I just love them, thanks for all the photos.

I'm dying to head back over and visit you, and go fossicking in markets together! … However I just can't imagine doing it in that cold!

In Brisbane, Australia we're having crazy weather also, with rain everyday since January. Nowhere near a normal summer for us! But snowing in Normandy in mid-March…. you win the prize for crazy weather!!

PS: May I please borrow darling Gibson to come teach Lilly a thing or two on good behaviour?

Cheer up – it is just round the corner:) It is sunny (although a bit cold) here on Dartmoor today:) I really can't wait for the spring to finally come and stay!! Hugs…

Ghetto and Gibson put a smile on my face. The seasonal images of your home are delightful – I would love My French Folly to resemble your beautiful home.

You are waiting for spring and we are hoping the autumn weather know that it has to give summer its marching orders. We have had the longest hot spell in our recorded history here in Melbourne. Having a pool and the beach at our doorstep hasn't made the weather more palatable.
Warm regards

Ils sont trop drôles tous les deux !!! Je suis dans le Calvados et nous avons eu énormément de neige ces deux derniers jours, incroyable pour la saison ! Tiens bon, le printemps est juste là prêt à venir ! Si, si…

You have snow all day – we have had 7 days straight of over 30 degrees celcius and nights not providing any solace with 20 degrees plus – it was 26 last night at 11pm….so much for sleep…and this is Melbourne!! Certainly not the norm…we are all excited about Autumn arriving sooner rather than later… thank god we all have wonderful seasons to look forward to…enjoy!

La maison est belle quand même sous la neige…!!! Mais c'est sûr qu'en ce moment on n'en veut PLUS !
C'est dommage pour la végétation. Les chiens ont l'air de bien s'amuser en tout cas !
Allez ! Encore un peu de patience !

I know the feeling. We still have a lot of snow, maybe half a meter and it's cold, five degrees below zero. I'm wondering, when we'll have spring here in Finland.

Ghetto and Gibson are so lovely. Hugs from Mickey, my five months old male Golden retriever.

Oh my, I feel for you, I really do! We're experiencing temps in the 50s the past few days, the snow is melting fast, the ice on the river has broken up & heading downstream fast. I was just out photographing my emerging tulips in my new tulip bed. Quite happy to see them considering the time it took this fall to plant at least 100 of them. The Canada Geese are coming back, seems like ALL of them are on a north-bound flight today! I am concerned that old man winter just MIGHT be coming back for another blast which is the usual scenario here in New England. Absolutely delightful, happy dogs!

I am sitting here listening to a swarm of weed eaters. Four men who each have one are doing the garden across the street. So if the grass is greener on the other side, you are welcome to my half of the bargain. I would take the peace and quiet of snow.

Five gold stars for Gibson. 🙂

March……in like a lion, out like a lamb.
We had 8" of snow last week, and it melted the next day! Winter is still here. My little crocuses are up, but they are just a tease.

Your spring will be there soon enough…sorry about the daffodils and magnolia, hope it doesn't hurt them too badly…

Great pictures Sharon! Love your dogs……I have a similar double act here at home……a Lab who poses for the camera too without a second thought, and a Cocker Spaniel who is 'all over the shop' and can't keep still! Yes, roll on some warmer weather……

I know. Can you believe it? It was rather scary driving home from Paris yesterday in the late afternoon. Lots of skidding around and the closer we got to home, the worse it got.

Isn't it nice that you and I work from home? Are the schools closed in your corner of the world?

Love the patient, "are we done yet?" look on Gibson's face.

SNOW! Wow, that's late in the season. Hope it's the very last and spring appears in a flurry of daffodils and green.

I hope your flowers are not lost. Do you have fruit trees that are in danger?

Ghetto is surely a rascal, but he always makes me smile.

Such cute dogs. Gibson is so funny. That look on his face and being so good. Now that other onery one. The first picture he looks like he is ready to prance right on Gibson. I think it is so much fun having two totally different breeds of dogs.
We are having a white out here in Ohio right now as well. Hurry up Spring.

Never fear, Spring is on its way (not that I can truly attest to it, it is raining cats and dogs here on the Pacific NW coast!)

LOVE Gibson….has a look of 'my patience is wearing thin, let's wrap this up and put junior to bed'. 😉

We had an unflappable dog like that who lived to be 25 years. When he went over a mountain edge into a ravine with the car smashed to suitcase size….we went down on ropes to try to find him. Very remote area, no houses, and a 20+miles from home. My mother calmly said, 'Don't worry, he'll be back.' We put reward photos all over the area offering $1000. for his safe return. A week later a farmer called Dad. Our exhausted pet had been fighting the man's two huge dogs for their food late one night. In the darkness, he'd almost shot him thinking he was a wolf.

We hadn't thought to ask our parents about how much to offer before heading off. After paying the gentleman Dad said to me, 'Next time, make it $100.' Hahaha. Dad.

Darling post.

Oh the pups are adorable. I do love how one compliments the other. If the daffodils haven't opened, the blooms should be okay. Enjoy the heat of the summer will leave us dreaming of winter. It is always something. Bonnie

Thank you for the photographs of your wonderful dogs in the snow. Henry (our 10-year-old Golden Retriever) and Bob (our seven-year-old long-haired Dachshund) envy Gibson and Ghetto: they have had no snow to play in this winter!!

The "Ghetto" I grew up with loved to play in the snow and loved riding a sled down the hills with us. Standing still is not the forte of a wire hair fox terrier much less lying around.

AWWW! I feel so bad for making over Ghetto all the time when there is sweet Gibson! He does remind me of my precious Miz Duke in that he is so docile and good natured. Please give Gibson a hug and please extend apologies for me! I don't mean to leave this sweet dog out! BOTH of your puppies are adorable! I know you are looking forward to a pleasant spring!!
