the clematis bouquet

by Sharon Santoni
[blank]This week, the Montana Clematis was calling my name and its colour looked so pretty matched with some purple sage, the last heads of lilac, a little snowball Viburnum and some fennel leaves from the potager.[blank]

[blank]I had never used clematis in a bouquet.  It’s long straggling stems are difficult to handle, and the flowers often point downwards instead of raising their faces to the sky like any well bred sensible flower would do.[blank]

[blank]The trick with the clematis is to cut short sections, either above or below the flower, just long enough to fix into the florists foam.[blank]

[blank]Popped the flowers into a crystal vase found at a fair, I just love its wide shallow shape.[blank]

[blank]Et voilà!
Rambling clematis .. tamed![blank]

I never knew clematis could be tamed into a bouquet. That is probably the most beautiful bouquet I've ever seen.

Absolutely beautiful….you have a way with flowers and photographs that's a wonderful gift. Is that the scented Elizabeth? Hi Sharon hope you are enjoying your warm weather and beautiful garden. Thank you for sharing. I have 3 clematis plants in my garden and Elizabeth is one of them you have given me an idea of how to enjoy them indoors. Regards Esther from Sydney.

This is absolutely beautiful. You make the most wonderful floral arrangements. Did you ever have any training or are you just a natural? Your gardens and grounds are glorious, too.

I have never used clematis in a bouquet either but saw one at my garden club fundraiser this year and wanted to try it. Mine does not have enough blooms for me to want to clip it so thanks for making yours for me to enjoy!
