Days are long and busy here at the moment. Planning all the details for the brocante tours in the Spring, buying for clients, arranging for shipping … oh yes and feeding the family, well now and again at least!
Today I was on the outskirts of Paris all day, in an office and warehouse environment that felt fairly grey, but as I drove home, left the motorway and started to hit the country lanes that brought me back down into our valley, the fatigue of the day was quickly forgotten.
And on this particular road, which is one of my favourites, I pulled the car over and grabbed my camera to catch that special end-of-winter-afternoon light.
The healing power of colour and light – if only we could bottle it!

Oh, so true! Lovely photographs.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING ! IT WAS ALSO A REMINDER TO ME AS TO HOW MUCH I MISS THE COUNTRY !
I love winter’s early evening light.
It is so wonderful that you not only appreciate the simple beauty in your valley, but that you are generous enough to share it with all of us!
Thank you, xo
Hi Sharon! You really have an eye for capturing the serene moments through the lens of your camera. Recently you mentioned you had to replace or upgrade your original camera to the one you are currently using. Can you share your thoughts in a personal “review” of this make/model. I’m looking to upgrade myself and need to gather advice from friends like you. These photos are phenomenal!
Dear Gail, Thank you for your kind words about the photos. It is true that I changed camera, but I really don’t feel qualified to review the make or model publicly, I’ll send you a private mail with a couple of comments that may help you choose your new camera.
I honestly just point and shoot. Yesterday I knew I was lucky with the light and the colours and I think I have taken so many thousands of pictures that my eye for composition has improved.
xx
Hi Sharon. Lovely pictures. There’s nothing quite like breathing that deep sigh of calm that says “I’m Home!”
The most important is to be able to see all those little things that are called “happyness”…..
I so love the mini-trips to France you so graciously take us all on. Merci’
