the spring tour – half way through

by Sharon Santoni

The spring tour is half way through and days are long and busy.  Just the time to catch up with my emails each evening and a quick look at the pictures taken during the day.

I have been posting each day on Instagram and I’ll continue that today and tomorrow, but in the meantime here are a few random shots of things we have seen and done.

Normandy is full of yellow canola and purple wisteria and lilac right now, plus the apple trees that are in full blossom, it is a beautiful sight!

Beautiful! LOvely shots….love the china….
I am such a “sucker” for china….problem is there is no more room for it.
Your countryside is stunning….

Sharon, you are *killing* me with the blue and white dishes! I keep telling myself, someday… Someday I’ll have the time and energy to seek out and surround myself with such beautiful things. Perhaps when my young and energetic twins are older……

Wonderful pictures, especially the peaceful landscape. We have very scary weather just now, SE of the US, and so this is very reassuring.

Is that a local Mairie somewhere, all the national flags?

Absolutely beautiful, Sharon. Love all the blue and white bounty you found! And the photos of Normandy are taking me back to my last visit there which was soooo many years ago. Time to come back. Hope you are having a great time! XO

Sharon,
Thank you for all the inspirational brocante, landscape, and architectural photos. Each time I visit My French Country Home, I am transported to France.

Don’t EVER lose your camera!!!
I am sitting here still in my cold damp house waiting for it to get rebuilt after Christchurch’s disasters and you continue to keep me sane. Thank you. While I’m getting colder and the property becoming sadder as I have continue to wait for the sound of demolition teams to come, your blog gives me memories of my long ago visit to Normandy and the plates and linen you have, transport me. You can also transport your dogs anytime!!! I have had so much inspiration for my rebuild from you with colors and style particularly in the garden its such an amazing world we live in that little old me over here in NZ can feel so connected to ‘heaven’ in an instant. Keep writing and clicking for a long time to come.

The photo of the US cemetery is gorgeous and so moving. That particular grave, Billie Harris, has such an amazing story as well. The story has been featured several times on US television, particularly CBS Sunday Morning. His widow only recently was able to find out that he was buried in Normandy. She has never remarried and waited all of her life to find him. He’s still honored yearly in Les Ventes, France, for crashing his damaged plane into woods in order to save their village. The main village street is named in his honor.

Can you please tell the name/maker of the oak leaf majolica plate? Is it Sarreguemines?
