If you’ve read my blog for any time at all, you’ll know that my favourite antiques fair of the year is the fair at Chatou. Held just outside Paris, this extraordinary event takes place twice a year, in March and September. It runs for a full ten days each time. I always include the September edition in my French Brocante Tour, and the March fair, which begins today, is the perfect way to welcome spring.
What makes Chatou so special? It’s the atmosphere, the layout, and the sheer variety of treasures on display. The wide alleys are easy to wander, and the stalls are filled with charm. Whether you love rustic French country brocante or refined 19th-century pieces, you’ll find something to fall in love with. There are vendors who specialise in antique paintings, vintage textiles, French chandeliers, Louis XVI furniture, silverware, tapestries, and even architectural salvage from crumbling châteaux.
Every corner holds a surprise. Some dealers travel from across France just to show their finest finds here. The fair is as much about inspiration as it is about shopping. Even if you don’t buy a thing, you’ll leave full of ideas. And if you need a break from browsing, there are always plenty of places to sit and enjoy a relaxed French lunch. From oysters to cheese platters and glasses of wine, it’s all part of the experience.
You can easily take the RER A train from central Paris, or hop into a taxi or Uber. It’s just a short ride, but feels like stepping into a different world.
For lovers of French antiques, it really is a must-see event. I never come home empty-handed—and even if I did, I’d still count it as a perfect day.
I’ll be there on Monday – coffee anyone?!

I’m swooning for the Chatou fair!
I adore this market. I was there in September and was surprised at the choices available to me. Wishing I could be there along with you Sharon! Enjoy!
I’ll be there like a shot!
It would be lovely to meet and have a coffee, but sadly I’m working on Monday.
I kicked myself a thousand times since October’s, but hope to come back with something lovely this time.
Enjoy your day!
I will be dreaming about this 🙂
Hello Sharon,
For so long I have wondered about Chatou. When I read The Boating Party years ago and found out that the famous painting had been painted there, I have wanted to go there. Then when I was in Paris, I inquired about going there and was told it was filled with big box stores and there was nothing to see there. Now you write about the Antique Faire and I’m so happy to know about this. So many Impressionists artists spent time there. How I wish I could meet you for coffee. Another time. I live too far from there. Our coffee would be cold by the time I arrived. Enjoy it all and buy treasures.
My best,
Janie
I’ll be with you in spirit. Absolutely did not have enough time when there last year (as you remember, I had to be paged with the loud speaker). Another time, for sure.
Enjoy the fair. Wish I could be there and meet for coffee.

I’ve been taking weed gummies through despite a while conditions, and they’ve honestly been a game-changer for stress and sleep. The pre-eminent part? No grogginess in the morning honourable a calm, mellow sensation rather than bed. Gain, they taste great, opposite from some other supplements I’ve tried. I was skeptical at key, but after devotedly using them, I can indubitably translate they help with unwinding after a sustained day. If you’re looking in the interest of a unembellished personality to chill without any preternatural side effects, CBD gummies are advantage trying. Just make steadfast you provoke a eminence stamp with third-party testing!
