buying french antiques

buying french antiques

I’ve been buying French antiques for decades. Over the years, I’ve scoured village brocantes, Paris street markets, and professional antique fairs all across France.

When my children were young, and I was a full-time mom of four, I still carved out time for antiquing. Most often, I’d sneak out early on Sunday mornings. Alone or with an antique dealer friend, I’d head to the local fairs before sunrise. We’d start around 6 a.m., visiting several markets and filling the car with treasures. On the way home, I’d stop at the boulangerie for fresh croissants, arriving just as the family was waking up.

Many of those early finds still live in our home today.

I’ve bought antique French furniture, linens, paintings, garden tools, and tableware. Since our house was always full of life, I avoided delicate pieces. Instead, I looked for sturdy vintage furniture, old wooden chairs, iron garden items, and lots of antique tables and bed linens.

Buying antiques in France isn’t just a hobby—it’s a tradition. You’ll find brocante markets in almost every town, with dealers selling everything from 19th-century mirrors to rustic French kitchenware. What makes French decorating unique is how old pieces are mixed with the new. No true French home is ever fully furnished from one store. Instead, they evolve over time, layered with family heirlooms, antique finds, and personal touches.

When we launched MFCH Box and Boutique, it felt natural to include antique French items. It’s not always easy to source enough vintage treasures for all our clients, but I work with a trusted network of dealers to find beautiful and useful items that bring charm to your home.

If you’re dreaming of starting your own collection, you can begin with our French antiques in the MFCH Boutique. From vintage table linens to rustic pottery, it’s a great chance to bring a touch of authentic French country style into your home.

Same Joyce, only I’m in Melbourne Victoria and wondering how I can get my hands on them. How wonderful it would be to be able to see these fairs etc. in person.

Hey Rita, if you really want to see beautiful French antiques in Melbourne, there’s a French guy been importing and selling them in a gorgeous shop – Leclerc Antiques – in Prahran for decades. 🙂

Eastern Pennsylvania, west of Philadelphia. Ah….antiquing in France…..such fun.
French furniture often appears in local small auction houses as well as larger auction houses like
Freeman’s or Pook and Pook in my area.
I am always looking for the French countryside pieces of furniture.

Hello!
I’m not in remote Western Australia, I live in Perth, so hunt French accent pieces online. The problem with it being so hot for so long here is the urge to declutter, to have less, to have more space and air in the house. I still go looking!

Hey. The half life time calculator on this https://calculatorprofessional.com/half-life-calculator is an excellent tool for anyone studying or working in fields involving radioactive decay. As a chemistry student, I often need to calculate half-lives for various substances, and this calculator makes the process incredibly simple and accurate. Its user-friendly interface allows for quick input of values and provides immediate, precise results. This tool has significantly streamlined my study sessions and lab work, saving me time and effort. I highly recommend it to fellow students and professionals who need a reliable and efficient way to calculate half-life times. Fantastic job on this invaluable resource!

Greetings … I’m Caroline and I was conceived in France’ and birthed in GA. I’ve inherited a very unique item originally from France’ when my parents were stationed there . I currently have no use for it and would desperately like to offer it to a French connoisseur. It’s a beautiful French blanket in a French matching suitcase , I’m certain it is valuable however, I’m open to a reasonable offer ✨

Gratitude

I’m unsure of how to obtain them. It would be amazing to be able to attend these fairs and other events in person.
