As a family that just loves to sit down to a good home-cooked meal together, it is inevitable that we have several shelves full of cook books. Some are hardly ever opened, some are turned to just for a specific favourite recipe, and then there are one or two that look rather the worse for wear because they are used and read so often.
One of these favourites is the Cuisine de la Méditerranée by Alain Ducasse. The famous French chef has just added the restaurant at Le Meurice to his already impressive list of four star tables carrying his name. You can enjoy Ducasse’s food in Monaco, Paris, Hong Kong, Tuscany, New York, London St Petersburg …. need I go on.
Not only is his food delicious, his restaurants drop dead gorgeous, but as a bonus, his recipes really truly work! He reconciled this blogger with the traditional French cherry clafoutis, and I’ll often turn to him first when looking for dinner ideas.
In Paris he has a cooking school, with lessons along themes and specialities. You can organise a children’s cooking lesson and let them eat the cakes they bake, or take a class on patisserie; great wines or haute cuisine.
Best of all – yup, I was saving the best bit for the end! – he runs classes in english or offers translators for any of the french speaking classes – you really have no excuse!
Wouldn’t this be a fun and memorable thing to include on your next trip to Paris?

Thank you my friend. I think I will do this on our next trip to Paris. I have never been to Le Meurice, and it looks like it may be a nice treat! xo
Stacey, this should be our treat together next time you come, I couldn't think of a more wonderful place to meet up!
xx
Wow, more than great!

In my hub's past or future life…he will be a French chef!
thank you!
Those draperies are stunning beautiful.
What a dream come true… How fun! We stayed at Le Meurice last time we were there and I literally didn't want to leave, it was so amazing.
Oh this would be a dream!
It certainly would! Pinned for future reference.
Bonjour,
Je possède plusieurs ouvrages de Ducasse mais aussi de tant autres grands chefs… Un bel hommage.
Gros bisous
I think you said what we all were going to say…many books but less we open again and again for their
delicious and easy making recipes. I write out the most interesting ones in my personal cooking book
hence it is the most used one.
what a treat that would be to go to his school.
I love the header, is that your house? It's Gorgeous.

This certainly would be such a delightful treat. When my children were growing up, we always ate together as a family & homemade meals or course. This is a very important thing to try to do but I do realize this day & age, not always possible. Wonderful post Sharon!
The restaurant at Le Meurice sounds like a go to place now. Love cherry clafoutis, have been making it for years using the Julia Child recipe, always turns out so well. Sometimes for special occasions I soak the cherries in liqueur first (reducing other liquids correspondingly), my favourite is a lovely cherry liqueur that I bought in St Petersburg a few years ago and now keep exclusively for this recipe. Brilliant to have a children's cooking lesson! Best wishes, Pamela
