If you’ve ever dreamed of packing up and moving to France, to a truly authentic region, full of history and natural beauty then you’ll want to know about this house. Not just a house actually, a former presbytery, dating back to the 18th century and beautifully restored to create a 4 bedroom/4 bathroom home, with room for more on the top floor.

The house is in the Cotentin, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. The subtle grey stone of the building is typical of the region and will look wonderful with roses climbing up the walls and over the gate. Within walking distance to the sea, the house is near St Mère de l’Eglise, made famous during the D-Day landings.

The person who acquires this lovely property will be starting with a clean palette, as inside everything has been very tastefully restored without changing the essential character. I love the double opening doors, the huge fireplaces and the soft tones of the walls and floors.

The outbuildings give that essential French feel to the property and will prove useful for creating summer rooms or storing garden furniture. The property lies within easy reach of Paris by train, and close to the port of Cherbourg, making it ideal for anyone thinking of creating a B&B.

The garden is perfect because it’s not too big an area to handle, but being surrounded by green fields there’s the feeling of size. I can see this laid out in a potager and parterre, complimenting the strict façade of the house. The land is rich here, trees and garden grown well, and the property could go from beautiful to stunning in quite a short time.

Hi Sharon
What a beautiful home and the location is diving. The stone walls remind me of the West of Ireland, which is a good thing!
My best for a week full of blessings

Truly a beautiful house — in my favorite part of Normandy. What fun we would have decorating that place!
Oh if only…
it looks like a perfect home.
I can see it decorated with shabby chic furniture and masses of linen pieces…
Love all the stonework.

A dream house…..Wonderful!
What a wonderful property. Stop by HFTS if you get a chance as I shared a recent visit with friends who live in Normandy in a similar property. Another presbytery.

I read your first sentence and thought YES. Following you.
You temptress………….I have to remind myself to be grateful for what I have and to put limits on my desires…………especially if they're not attainable!
Oooooh! It's lovely! I can vouch that this area is a wonderful place, we have holidayed there for the past 2 years. It's very rural, which I love, with miles of lush, green fields and of course those wonderful beaches. Even in high season, apart from at the war musuems, the roads are pretty quiet. We used to see seals each morning at the estuary. It's ideal for nature lovers. Much closer to the UK than here in the Dordogne Valley!
Lovely home. I love the stone walls.
Nice Pictures and I truly appreciate the content of your blog.. Keep going.

This is my dream. How I wish it were possible. 🙂
I always love seeing and settling in such amazing country homes like those above. They are the perfect places that anyone can feel the comfort and relaxation they’ve always wanted, and I most certainly believe that these houses deserve to be properly taken care of and maintained. It’s not every day you get to set foot on wonderful spots like these, right?
