a French home to love in Normandy

by Sharon Santoni

How charming is this little house in deepest Normandy.   It is featured in the French magazine Campagne et Decoration, and dates from 1853.   The owners obviously love to shop at the local brocantes and have furnished the property with their beautiful and eclectic collection of  treasure.

I love the soft tones achieved with pale but not white walls, neutral coloured chairs and natural wood for the beams and some of the furniture.

I love the ceiling treatment in this bedroom in the eaves.  The natural timbers and the huge beams are stunning.

A place to feel at home in, don’t you think?

I agree, it does look like home. They have created a really nice eclectic look. The kitchen is charming and that attic space is great. I see several old painted portraits which I love.

I think I could move in there and feel quite at home – the outside is as lovely as the inside.

Charming indeed! I think I would feel at home the minute I walked in the door. I'm sure their guest must feel so comfortable, so welcome. I love a home with plenty of unique, homey charm – I'd take it over a design showplace any day!

Totally gorgeous, so much inherent charm in the house itself, and they've done a wonderful job with it.

I love how the house feels light despite the dark traditional wood everywhere. A super example of how to treat a traditional Normandy home.
