roses from my garden

by Sharon Santoni

[blank]A little ‘bouquet du jour’ to start your weekend.  We have had torrential rain this week, in fact a friend summed it up quite nicely “il fait très beau pour un mois de novembre” … we’re having very nice weather for a month of November![blank]

[blank]Consequently my poor peonies have taken a real battering and the roses are wondering whether it was such a good idea to open up their buds.

Still I wandered the garden this morning, secateurs in hand, and put together this bouquet.  Last week it was blue and white, this week multi coloured, and next week I’ll try an all white arrangement.[blank]

[blank]I cut roses, peonies, climbing hydrangea, lupins, euphorbia, the flowers from the ground elder that plagues me in one corner of the garden and some valerian.  I hope you like it.[blank]

[blank]I have always loved putting bouquets together for the house, but it wasn’t until I had the blog that I realised how much fun it is to take the photos and ‘stage’ them – thank you![blank]

[blank]
[blank]Thank you for reading me again this week, thank you for the many wonderful and interesting comments I received, I am so sorry it isn’t possible to reply to them all.

[blank]

[blank]I wish you all a wonderful weekend.[blank]

Your arrangement is beautiful. I love the way it "drapes" and not "stiff" looking. Very lovely combination of colors and textures.

Okay, Sharon….

Looking at these gorgeous photographs of flowers that you just casually gather in your garden?…

All I can say is that I've liked you for quite a while, but just right now I sort of hate you.

Begrudgingly, Enviously, Discontentedly,Selfishly, Resentfully, and Quite Covetously (I know; it's a sin) yours as ever,

The thing I like about your arrangements is that you put together a wonderful selection of lacey flowers, and then you let them softly rest in the container. People tend to cram the flowers together – but you allow the flowers to hang as they would naturally in the garden.
It always looks like a picture that someone should paint. Lovely!

What more can I say? One has to start with the artistic ability to choose one's plants that will bloom at the same time to arrange such beauty in a vase. As a fellow gardener, I admire and salute you for your choices. Anxious to see the white arrangement.

Lovely pictures!!! I am putting together bouquets myself with daylilies, snapdragons, and Little Gem magnolias from my garden. It is so fun and the magnolias smell glorious. I am wanting to grow hydrangeas but I have never had much luck here in the Deep South. I have friends here that make it look effortless, though! Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing your flowers and yourself!

Sharon! so much better than any shop I have been to ever! your skills to arrange these beautiful flowers are marvelous, I love the little white flowers that look like what I remember from back home growing in the grass fields, but anyways…they make a lovely accent to those english roses (if I am not mistaken) …sorry I may be!
I would be at your house buying them if you lived closer…xo Z

Good Morning Sharon…I love your blog I always check in :). I guess I'm still on your question about covered books…I found a picture on another blog just yesterday where the blogger, Holly, turned her books around as I had suggested and like doing myself…here's a link to her blog,

https://www.inthefunlane.com/2012/06/library-plates-for-you-and-me.html (scroll down a bit and you'll see her sideboard filled with books)

She's a Canadian blogger who does a lot of fun projects etc. if you don't already know her you may enjoy her blog. Have a great weekend, good luck with very special brocante finds…can't wait to see what they'll be!
