I just watched a story on CBS Sunday Morning about an American Pilot, Billie D. Harris, killed at Les Ventes and I thought of you, being in Normandy on this anniversary week of D-Day. Fascinating story. We Americans have a special connection to Normandy.

Oh, I love your loot shoots! I always want ALL of it! haha.
I love the copper pots and if this is not your best photography…well show me your best! And you do on every post and that's why I return day after day after day!
Every time I look at all the beautiful things you find on your loot shoots, I think to myself, "Where DOES all this stuff come from? Why isn't it kept in families, to hand down to the next generation? I do know, from my own experience and my own relatives, that sometimes an estate is untouchable due to matters of wills or trusts, and sometimes everything is put up for sale even when family members are still around; also, of course, sometimes a person will pass on with no surviving family members; or, there are always the family members who aren't sentimental about the deceased's posessions and just want to move things along as fast as possible, to get done with it. In any event, it's always fascinating to see what turns up at your brocante sales, on Amazon and eBay, church bazaars/fundraisers, secondhand stores, etc. The older I get, the more interested I become; whereas, when younger, I'd say to my mother, "No Old Stuff!!!" I wanted new, new, new; trendy for the moment. But, of course, so much of what is now new, new, new is simply the worst craftmanship, no quality, shoddy materials, etc. It's good we learn to hang on to what is worth keeping, eventually.
Love the copper pots they'll look lovely in a wonderful kitchen filled with love and making room for new uses. The books are wonderful records of a time when these were all just thoughts.
I love history and all the secrets never revealed, often, when I hold an object like a book, or cloth, or clothing with a prior history I do pick up a "sense" from a prior owner. I too wonder where all these beloved items started from and hope they'll be enjoyed by others.

Love those old copper pots and collanders. I love the way well made older objects gain a warm patina from constant use and careful maintenance.
