This morning saw me up early and off to fairs, but they proved disappointing – yes! that does happen …. I bought some stuff but not enough to warrant a bona fide loot shoot. However, the good news is that next Wednesday is a bank holiday and I should find a ton of stuff at a huge fair near here. So with a bit of luck I’ll be showing you a combined loot shoot then.
As compensation this morning, I drove through some beautiful countryside and in particular drove past this château that stopped me in my tracks. Very protected by trees, so photos were difficult, but surrounded by its working farm with stunning barns and outbuildings.
And then just a few yards down the road, my eye caught this sweet little house for sale. I know nothing about it, just poked my nose over the gate, but inevitably it got my imagination working overtime ….. what do you think?

This would be a highlight of my morning driving through this countryside and happening upon this beautiful house.
Good Morning Sharon
I think your drive more than compensated for the lack of loot. It is beautiful to be up and about so early.
Thanks for sharing

I us living in that house! May be, in the future….

That house is adorable – I would love to see inside!
The chateau is stunning.
I'm sorry that you had a disappointing time at the sales yesterday.
Good Morning, Sharon….your posting just made me recall a person I hadn't thought of in at least twenty years.
When I was first out of college and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia (where the Univ. of Virginia is located), I knew a very clever fellow who, while going through law school, paid his living expenses this way:
He happened to paint very well, although it was just a hobby. Every weekend, just as other gradstudents were putting on aprons to go wait tables all night in some dumpy restaurant or bar, he would drive out into the very prosperous countryside. He'd take photographs of the many large houses/estates (it's a remarkably wealthy county). Then, he'd go back to his apartment and do most of a painting of several of those houses. Afterwards (and he had a rolling production-schedule), he'd drive back, park himself in some conspicuous spot in full-view of the house, set up his easel, and pretend to be working on the painting in some burst of spontaneous inspiration.
Nearly all of the time, someone from the house would notice him and come out to see what he was doing. He would explain that he was simply driving by…..but their house was just SO beautiful that he had to stop and paint it…hope you don't mind, do you? May I please finish it?….
Of course they never minded…and almost all of the time they'd buy the painting (which was a deliberate vanity-piece).
It wasn't exactly a scam, since he was happy to get the 300 bucks (about as much you'd make in a WEEK of waiting tables in those days), and they were happy/flattered to have a picture of their GORGEOUS house.
I recall his always having plenty of cash, courtesy of this scheme, whereas the rest of us were always broke. He also graduated from law school on time and, as I recall, snagged a plum-job on Wall Street within a week of getting his diploma.
Well….thanks for the memory-jogger, Sharon,
David Terry

Love David Terry's comment. What adventures you have Sharon !! So happy you found these beautiful homes for us to swoon over. Nevermind the loot…it will come. xx's
Dear "Splenderosa"…Well, I'm glad you enjoyed that anecdote. I should add that I've always admired folks who not only came up with an original idea, but also DID SOMETHING with it.
As far as I can tell, both my lawyer-painter friend and Sharon have done the same thing…..and it's a win/win situation for them and everyone involved.
I've never been to Normandy, although I spend a lot of time in France (mostly the Loire valley and Perigord). I've recently gotten my French in-laws (whom I like a great deal and really enjoy; they live in Tours) to go to Sharon's site. they're to come stay here for three weeks in September, and we're mulling over the thought of how fun it would be if I came over for a visit, and we went on one of Sharon's brocante rampages.
In any case, I admire folks who come up with a good idea and run with it….

I was swooning at the gate alone. And the little cat in the drive – I'm in love! Where do I sign?
Sigh… having dreams of such a house. Have a friend that lives in a little French Village and loves it.
So beautiful, seems to me the drive and scenery alone made up for the lack of loot 🙂
Have a wonderful Sunday evening..
