a christmas wreath as a hostess gift

by Sharon Santoni

Invited to lunch today, I wanted to take my friend a home made gift.  I knew she was decorating on a white theme this year, so using materials from the garden I made her a simple white/grey/green wreath for her door.

Using a circle made of wisteria branches, I wired a grey leaf from a plant whose name I’ve forgotten, and some of my favourite mistletoe all around the wreath without building up the weight too much.

Tied with a narrow and simple ribbon in the same colour scheme
 and that’s it!
a simple gift, to say a heartfelt thank you …

Lovely! Lychnis or [Rose] Campion: love the white/silvery foliage. Easily grown from seed & very drought tolerant. 😉

If the wreath were mine I'd want it to last forever, but much of its beauty is in its ephemeral nature. What a thoughtful gift giver you are.

You are so gifted! When I have tried to make wreaths they didn't look anything near perfect.

I love the fact that mistletoe grows in your garden! I have to buy my mistletoe and holly from the florist here in southern Minnesota.

So very lovely and such a sweet gift! If not Lychnis, perhaps it's Lambs Ear?

You are such a sweet friend! Homemade gifts are truly the best. Lucky you to have the foliage still in your garden. We cannot grow mistletoe and my lambs ears are long gone. The only greens I have left are junipers and pine trees. Oh to live in France where life is sweeter and slower. Even the plants live longer lol!!!
