thinking about brocante for 2013

by Sharon Santoni

[blank]The brocante season is enjoying some down time.  A season to reflect, to take stock, to refurbish  to find new homes for last year’s purchases.

I don’t generally find the time for flicking through magazines, but this is the time of year when there are no brocantes to go to, and I enjoy reworking stuff I have here, and finding inspiration in other people’s pictures.

Colour is still the big factor in most people’s decor, and in france the palette remains decidedly quite neutral.

I love the mix of styles in this room, steel chairs with the oval table and rounded cupboard against the wall.[blank]

[blank] I like the use of the twin chandeliers over this sofa, make a note to look out for a pair at the next fair …[blank]

[blank]This is my favourite way of showing small paintings, just propped up against a wall, rather than hung.   Last year I found a lot of little paintings and  I’ve put together a group of pictures that need to find new resting places around the home.[blank]

[blank] Loving this simple table and the mix of furniture here, I saw a table just like this in September but passed on it, maybe I should have got it after all ….[blank]

If you would like to come to Normandy to hunt for your own treasure, then you are welcome to join one of my brocante tours or to come as a private buyer.   The tours are beginning to fill up, but there are still some spaces left in April and September.

The first really big fair will be in March, and I still have some dates free for taking buyers there.  If you’d like any more information, just drop me a line[blank]

I love your photos of other peoples rooms. Often when I'm browsing through a magazine, I see something I like & think 'wow, I something similar to that & I'd never thought of using it mixed with modern or old. Just moving a piece of furniture to another room can revive the whole look. I'm just about to look at my old magazines for inspiration to revamp my open plan dining/relaxing area. Thanks for some ideas.

I was just looking through some old magazines for inspiration, as I have been uninspired for a month or so. Lovely to look at your blog too, such different and clever pictures. I love those two clocks! Happy New Year!

Love the top and bottom 2 image's. I too look forwards to brocanting. We have nothing like the amount of brocantes here in Burgundy. I love it though the villages are very sweet and it's still very old fashioned around here.
Best wishes for the New Year. It's great to see your finds. I often toy with the idea of selling from here, maybe one day.I paint so I don't need too many distractions!

I covet a room for my sewing and writing and, well, "my" space, just like the first image. Just beautiful. Love.

Oh this sounds like so much fun! I'm just afraid I'd spend so much I wouldn't be able to afford to get it home!

I love the clocks on the photo, I do have the same type and size of clocks in the guest cottage too.(They were the typical form of clocks in the countryside inns some 80-100 years ago)Love from the Plain in Hungary Dorka http://www.dorottyaudvar.co.hu

When I originally commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and now each time
a comment is added I get four e-mails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
Bless you!
