a dog’s life ….

by Sharon Santoni
[blank]The week has been a shocker for these pups.

They’ve had to amuse our house guests; chase the neighbour’s cat; get lost in the forest; empty the dirty laundry basket; bark at the postman;  roll  in foul smelling mud; dig holes in the lawn   …..  it’s easy to lose sight of just how tiring a dog’s life can be.[blank]

[blank]Then of course there are all those silly house rules to respect:  don’t run out the gate, don’t jump up to greet people, don’t beg at the table,  don’t rummage in the bin, don’t bark at the horses, don’t come upstairs and,  oh yes …
….definitely don’t ever, ever get on the sofas …. [blank]
[blank]Score: One – Nil …  to them …..
I think we may need to go back to school![blank]

Sharon, you are going to get a million responses for this beautiful pupper post. I am sure that I am not alone in that I want to pull myself through the screen so that I could cuddle up next to those two!

I think that you might know that we adopted a second dog, Kipling. After a month and a half, it is still fairly rare that they cuddle but when they do it brings me so much joy…

Bisous from Provence!

They are so adorable. I'm sure they'd rather stay home with you than go off to puppy school to learn silly house rules!

Oh Sharon, I love both of these dogs — they make such an adorable pair of rascals!! I'm always drawn to Ghetto, as we have always had terriers here at our house. That little attitude of his is just popping out in his expression. 🙂

Have a wonderful day!

Those dogs have you wrapped around their paws !! ( I can't say finger )but you know what I mean !!
Absolutely adorable !! I'm sure you don't agree with this all of the time, especially when you have just washed the covers on the furniture. Like you, I loved my dogs, and they were part of the family. We tried to keep certain places out of bounds but they never listened. Lovely pictures.

Every time I see Ghetto's face I laugh. I don't know why I do that. Gibson looks so innocent, but Ghetto is a rascal. I hope the sun is shining on you today.

Love the pictures, the light is just beautiful, they would make an awesome painting. I love watching sleeping dogs lie, it always makes me smile…. maybe because that's about the only time theyr'e not up to anything! I laughed out loud at them rolling in the smelly mud… let's just say I have a story about horse manure and dogs and leave it at that, the little grots they can be 🙂 I only had words with my boy last night, apart from the general rules you have, his main rule is to stay out of the kitchen so he doesn't get burnt or eat something he's not supposed to but the allure of food gets the better of him and he sneaks in to see if he's going to get in trouble and then freezes when he relises he's been busted! 😀 Where would we be without our faithful companions?

These two are such precious loves. Life would be so barren without them, for you AND us. It's a toss-up in our house as to which is the fave…the sofa, or the human's big bed.

Curious as to why you named your dog Ghetto, as the word has rather unpleasant connotations.

Sharon, I had exactly the same reaction as Heather! I wish we could get our blog-related canines together for a romp. My contribution would be Henry, a Golden Retriever, and Bob, a long-haired dachshund. Both are adopted/rescued, and neither ever miss an opportunity to give love and have fun! And I too love it when they cuddle with each other.

Thank you for this delightful post…your dogs are beautiful!

Ghetto is a wire haired fox terrier. They are very intelligent and mischevious. They were movie stars in the 30's and 40's. Embracing life and living it to the fullest is their full time occupation.

Hi!!!
Your dogs are beautiful! I also just adopted a puppy, her name is Lexy. Its been years since we have had a dog and I was very concern with having a two month old puppy in the house, and although she has had a FEW accidents, she is a real joy to have.
I love your adventures in France! keep them coming!

No! Not back to school! Adorable dogs!

Anyone who loves their dogs; and loves their houses and the decoration therein!

READ!! "A Scrapbook For Living" by Bunny Williams! (I think I am the self-appointed President of her fan club!!)

A whole chapter is about animals in the house! The best dog beds (and the chicest!) the best covers to put on the sofa for the dogs…..(so the guests don't know)….they are washable!!

Their bowls can be beautiful! (she explains all of this so warmly , so "Southern"; and so right!

I have loved all of her books……(I bought 90% of all things for our house from John Rosselli (her husband); and Treillage!

Her other books…..(which I love)! are about "decorating"; which I do!

This book is about "how to LIVE"!!!

No one could say it better. There is not one ounce of "pretentious" here. Not one ounce of snobbery! (that is not in "Bunny's toolbox " Just wonderful suggestions of how to live a wonderful life in a "House"!!

It is brilliant; beyond!

now I am going to Amazon! (probably 900 or more comments saying the same thing……but I will say it, anyway!!)

Honestly. Google "wallybeds" I did! And those blankets are so chic; wash so well…and the dogs love them!!

Thank you , Bunny!
