French eating at Le jardin des Plumes in Giverny

by Sharon Santoni
If you are going to visit the gardens of Claude Monet at Giverny this Spring, and if you’d like to combine the beautiful gardens with a spectacular meal then I have a new address to recommend.

The Jardin des Plumes opened the doors to its new restaurant and hotel last November.  I was lucky enough to be taken out to lunch there a few weeks ago, and I have to say that I can be hard to please, but this one was spectacularly good.

The restaurant and buildings have been completely renovated, and for the coming spring and summer there will be terraces laid up for al fresco dining too.  The decor is contemporary and fresh.  It has a luxurious and country feel to it , this blogger loved it!

The food that arrived on our plates was stunning!  Truly delicious and so wonderful to look at that we all took our time to admire before we ate.

The restaurant has been created by Eric Guerin, who already boasts a Michelin star.  The team is young and very charming.  As we lingered over our meal, the chef was kind enough to come and share a glass of wine with us before we moved into the library for coffee.

I’m looking forward to eating there again very soon … maybe I’ll bump into you!

Bonjour Sharon. What a great place, not what you would expect in old Giverny, especially when looking at the building… I would love to give le Jardin des Plumes a try one day… Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

This is a beautiful restaurant! And how nice for the chef to join you! I'm not recognizing some of the food, but that happens to me here in Chicago, too!

XO,
Jane

Looks lovely, so glad the food matched the surroundings. Its so disappointing when the food is a let down. Bet this restaurant will be full just through word of mouth!

How pretty, what a gorgeous country house. I bet if this one hit your 'houses for sale in Normandy' posts it would be snapped up within the week! I would love this just for the architecture, and then inside has been transformed so well too. If the food is spot on then it's definitely on the 'must-do' list! Jen x

I live by the Epte at Berthenonville and go to Giverny often. Just saw the sign for the restaurant the other day – looks fab!
