the french month of May

by Sharon Santoni
[blank] The month of May is always delightful here in Normandy.  Not only because it is the first month that we feel the warmth of summer edging closer, nor because it is a month filled with blossom and irises, nor even because it is the month when the valley is patchworked in bright yellow fields of rapeseed oil flowers …[blank]
[blank] but mostly because it is a month generous in bank holidays and long weekends.  A month to picnic, to visit with family; to tend your garden and to br-e-a-the.[blank]

[blank]This year the first of May fell on a Wednesday which was a cool break midweek; then  we had the 8th May celebrating the end of the WWII, followed by 9th May Ascension Thursday.  So if you have Wednesday and Thursday off then why not go the whole way and take Friday too?  Et voilà!  a 5 day weekend.  [blank]
[blank]But that’s not all…. the 20th of May is Pentecost, and on a Monday, so that gives us another three day weekend.[blank]

[blank]So there you have it … another reason to move to France[blank]

[blank]Wishing you a lovely May weekend, thank you for reading me.[blank]

Dear Sharon,

You always give plenty of lovely reasons to move to France! The rapeseed fields are in full flower here in Kent too – stunning! Have a lovely weekend, and of course, those extra bank holidays too!

What glorious land! When I still lived in France, I LOVED the "ponts" and long week ends. As an employer, I am (honestly) really glad, we do not have such long extended holidays… however, i long more and more for France …
Have a great Long Week End!

Ah, thanks for the advance notice
I'll be back in Brittany from next Friday so will need to take another holiday into account, although it being a Monday makes it not much different from every other Monday in rural Brittany 🙂

The word that comes to mind when I look at these lovely photographs is breathtaking. Thank you for sharing. Don't laugh at me but I look forward to July so I can sit late at night and watch Tour De France just to see your beautiful country. Regards Esther from Sydney.

The yellow fields are just amazing! Makes me want to plant rapeseed in the garden, but of course it would never look as wonderful as the acres and acres in flower. Jen x

Yes, watching the Tour de France is wonderful, simply for the French countryside and villages! My husband is a cyclist, so we watch every minute of it.

I agree with you, May is such a lovely month. I have always enjoyed the rapeseed fields…yellow as far as you can see sometimes. And of course, the wonderful apple trees in bloom.

I’ve been taking thc gummies with a view a while instantly, and they’ve sincerely been a game-changer for highlight and sleep. The best part? No grogginess in the morning honourable a cool off, relaxed impression in the vanguard bed. Supplementary, they have knowledge of great, unlike some other supplements I’ve tried. I was skeptical at beginning, but after daily using them, I can unquestionably whisper they domestics with unwinding after a extended day. If you’re looking for a reasonable means to the sniffles without any strange side effects, CBD gummies are worth trying. Honest provoke sure you get a quality stamp with third-party testing!
