Forever Chic – a must-read by my friend Tish!

by Sharon Santoni
Tish Jett is one of the Very Good Things that blogging has brought into my life.
I read her blog A Femme d’un Certain Age for  a while before we began to chat on the phone, and then to meet up in Paris.  She is a good friend, a good listener.  She makes me laugh and she – like me – thinks that 5 hour lunches are an excellent idea.
Tish delights her readers with her wit and good humour, while helping us all to keep on track with fashion and beauty care – she has worked in fashion journalism all her life, so she is of course a reference!
The exciting news is that Tish’s book Forever Chic is shortly to be launched, and that you can now pre-order a copy.[blank]
[blank]The sub title of the book is ‘Frenchwomen’s Secrets for Timeless Beauty, Style and Substance!’
Tish spent a long time researching the book.  As well as observing and questioning the elegant French women she counts among her friends, she also interviewed dermatologists and other vital professionals in her quest for the truth.   She shares her findings in the book, and it makes for a very fun and interesting read.
I am lucky enough to have had a sneak preview of the book, and I can tell you that she is true to her hallmark style of writing, and that the content is both valuable and easily digestible.[blank]
Personally, I’ll be stocking up on copies to offer as Christmas gifts![blank]

Oh,yes….Heather's quite right…Tish Jett is "the Real Deal". Tish and I have happily corresponded since first encoutering each other via….YOUR blog. So
much for "Wasting time on blogs" To be frank? During one of those pointless, what-were-we-even-arguing-ABOUT arguments which couples have, Herve recently made the BIG (although not irretrievable; I am, after all, forgiving of occasional stupidity) mistake of referring to my "wasting time on blogs". I'll eventually let him off the hook for that remark…but not anytime soon.

In any case, I met the always straightforward and refreshing Tish via your blog. I will bet you a shiny red apple that a lot of your readers are the sort who wonder how one goes about writing a book….and how does one go about getting it published in one form or aother? I'll also bet that many of your readers would enjoy/appreciate an interview with Tish….how does an expatriate in France go about writing a book and getting it published? More to the point, what happens then?….what can you do to promote the book, so that it doesn't drop dead in the water? I'm friends with a lot of writers (both well-known and not at all renowned), and they'll all tell you that writing & getting the thing "published" is, comparatively speaking, the easy part of the business. Tish and I have corresponded about this very subject.

It'd be interesting for your readers if you had an interview with Tish about the subject. As I said, she's obviously just done what I assume a lot of your readers would love to do.

I'll be ordering several copies of this book for Christmas presents. Do I, as a man and a notoriously indifferent dresser, have to worry over whether my giving the book comes-off as a "hint" that my female friends AREN'T "chic"? (HINT: they're all smart and funny and wonderful, but VERY few of them are what anyone would call "chic"; do I want to seem as though I'm pointing out to them what they already know?)

Let's hope not….

TO "Karen"……

"I….am happy someone closer to my age is looking out for us".

EXACTLY, Karen. Want "The Male Point of View"????

I sometimes look at the "fitness" magazines or "GQ" in the grocery style ads, and I think "Actually I don't WANT to look like I'm 27 years old again, and I wouldn't have necessarily have wanted to look like the-guy-on-the-cover when I actually still WAS 27…..and that's a Good Thing, since, at age 53, I'm not likely to do so….and I'll just end up feeling bad about myself."

Tish is definitely barking up the right tree.

Like several other folks, I'm getting this book as a Christmas present for several friends of mine.

So happy to see this book, it's on my to-buy list. I think that I, too, found Tish's blog via MFCH. I've forgotten how I found MFCH but am very glad I did.

Maybe the best consideration, before giving your book to a friend (male or female), is whether that friend wants to be, or cares about being, or is in any way interested in, chic. It's pretty low on a lot of people's totem pole!!
