French market shopping

by Sharon Santoni
Shopping at our local market can be a dangerous thing

I may well arrive with a list of things I need, there are too many other temptations and I invariably leave with a basket weighed down with unexpected goodies.

The care that is taken to arrange and display fruit, fish cheese and vegetables is time well spent. Walking around the market becomes a sensory experience that is difficult to resist.

A few images from our local market, where colours and perfumes change as the seasons progress.

Nothing is better than going to a market and buying fresh vegetables, fruits, and cheeses. Just was in Corona, Italy and had the experience and it was so wonderful!

Love your blog!

I'll take that experience over a grocery chain any day of the week! So refreshing and beautiful.

The village markets are one of my favorite things about life in France. And I see that Ghetto also approves! Gorgeous photos, Sharon. Makes me feel like I'm there, too! XO

Our markets are very nice Sharon, nothing like you have shown in France though!
The displays are enticing indeed!

Those Market images are lovely. I have several baskets and take them when we go to the Farmer's Markets…do you have a source for the leather handled straw bag?

It all looks so good that I'm nearly drooling on the monitor, especially for the tomatoes and those dear little round squashes. I have one of those straw bags, purchased years ago in Mallorca — will have to go dig it out to take to the local farmers market.

I do not understand how a tomato and a squash can make my brains fall out of my head. I always overbuy at a farmers market. I try to take a meal/ingredients card(s) with me so I have a complete meal when I am done, otherwise I end up with tomatoes and glads. Fun trip today and lovely to see Ghetto was allowed to go along.

I visited a market in Prayssac, in the Lot Valley last year when we were on holiday, and I was just like a child in a sweetshop. I was just sorry I couldn't bring an esky full of cheeses back to Australia withme!

Lovely pictures, love the artichokes and the melons particularly. Cavaillon melons are the best! Love them for breakfast with some natural unsweetened yoghurt. Cheers, Pamela

When I see an.amazing display of fruits and vegetables, I am reminded that we live in an abundant universe. Our creator saw fit to make so many different sizes, shapes, flavors, scents…and then gave us our eyes, noses, hands for which to experience them. It all seems so miraculous. I hope that some day I am lucky enough to see your part of the world. Have you ever been to the famous market in Seattle? Because it is a port city, it has amazing products from every corner of the world.

This market looks fabulous to say the least! We have wonderful markets here in Arizona but I don't think we have anything close to what these gorgeous photos portray! Ghetto at the market looks dangerously adorable!

As a French person, I confirm you that you are at the right place to enjoy our "Farmer's markets". Your pictures describe perfectly the ambiance over there! Here, we have a harder time to smell things and we don't hear any "Venez voir mes beaux poissons!!!!" (=Come and see my beautiful fishes!). I also noticed you got the real French baskets as a real "cliente francaise". Allez, bon marche (accent on the e) a vous !
