the christmas cutting garden

by Sharon Santoni

Cutting from the garden doesn’t have to be limited to the spring and summer flowers.  At this time of year I turn to my garden for texture and berries.  Sometimes this is just as padding for some flowers I’ll buy, but today I wanted to make a wreath for the door.

My intention was to keep it simple: greys, greens and silver

and then I added some berries, which looks more festive

This baby may be hanging for a month,

so I’m thinking I’ll start off with the red berries

and maybe change along the way….

it may not be perfect, but it fits with a homely, country style

and that is what suits us best.

Wishing you a lovely weekend, warming up for Christmas!

It’s lovely! I too am fortunate enough to be able to walk around the “woods” at our place and collect bits of this and that to decorate with. Simple and natural, inspiration as you go along. Enjoy your Christmas creating!

I love the simple yet classy look of your creation! It turned out fabulous. Wreaths like yours are very expensive to purchase if you can even find them. When we had our family home and I had my herb garden and wildflowers I had so much fun doing things like you are creating. Such wonderful memories of making natural decor!

Please stop by to see what we’ve been up to getting ready for the holidays. We’d love to sip some tea or coffee with you!

Holiday blessings, Edie Marie

A beautiful wreath.
You have reminded me to go to the nursery and buy ours.
I usually end up asking for more pinecones and berries to be placed on the wreath.
Not the same as creating it yourself but it has some personalization.
A cold rainy day today here in New Jesey.Good for doing some Christmas decorating inside and the Christmas cards going to England.
Bon jour and bon soir to all.

Lovely! I’d much rather decorate with things I find in nature if at all possible.

Love your Beautiful wreath for your door. I will be out this weekend collecting . haven’t seen berries on my holly tree this winter. Maybe the birds have eaten them already. So I’ll need to look elsewhere, or substitute with something else.

What a beautiful wreath, Sharon. You are very talented to create such a thing of beauty. I just got a freshly made evergreen wreath for our door today and the fragrance is wonderful.
Have a lovely weekend, and I look forward to seeing what other wonderful things you do to celebrate the Advent and Christmas season.

Bonjour Madame! What a lovely way to decorate, with nature. We here have so many artificial decorations to choose from, but I love the smell of real greenery. I happened to get a strong whiff of a Christmas pine yesterday and the memories of childhood just flooded into my memory.

Peace. Anita
