blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- hero shot

Blue and white may be the most timeless color combination. It works with modern design; it fits in with other colors; we find it in antique patterns, and it feels crisp and fresh for spring. With the season well and truly underway in France now, it felt like the perfect moment to bring you a blue and white themed My Stylish French Box!

This box also featured an extra gift- a print copy of the May/June issue of My French Country Home Magazine, which is now available as a print subscription and can be purchased HERE.

Without further ado, here are the contents of the May 2019 Blue & White box…

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- letol scarf

A jacquard scarf from Letol:

This is the first time that we collaborate with Létol, masters in the art of Jacquard weave. Patterns are created through intricate weaving rather than printing, and we love the quality and design of their items. This scarf is 100% cotton, 100% French, and also environmentally friendly. It can be tied around the neck, or elegantly draped over shoulders.

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- bohm necklace

A necklace from Bohm:

We wanted to include a piece of blue jewelry for this blue and white theme. We hope you love this blue necklace by Bohm Paris (you may remember them from our Daughter Box last holiday season!). Simple enough to add some glamor to a pair of jeans and a shirt, pretty enough to accompany your favorite summer dress.

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- faiencerie de gien mug

A mug from the Faïencerie de Gien:

Gien is one of the finest names in French pottery. This china mug is designed by Isabelle de Borchgrave, and is part of the Blue Bird collection. Just the right size for your morning coffee or afternoon tea, we hope this mug will add a very French touch to your daily routine.

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- le pompon pochette

A pochette from Le Pompon:

Le Pompon is a small artisan brand creating textiles in simple but stunning designs. We love these two drawstring bags, made from the finest linen, and ideal for popping lingerie or jewelry into a suitcase the next time you are on the move.

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- sempe print

This month’s watercolor print:

The second of our illustrations by the famous French artist Jean Jacques Sempé. In this drawing we see a chic and trim French lady contemplating a huge piece of abstract art. We wonder what she makes of it!

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- fragonard candle

A scented candle from Fragonard:

Fragonard has long been among our favorite brands. Their products smell divine, and their packaging is beautiful. This candle comes with its own porcelain pot and lid, pretty enough to re-use for trinkets in the bathroom or on a bedside table.

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- antique napkin

An antique napkin:

In this box our antique item is an monogrammed napkin. Each napkin is unique in style and in size, and we love to use them as cocktail napkins or even as small tablecloths on a side table for summer entertaining. Each napkin is hand embroidered and between eighty and one hundred years old!

blue and white box- may 2019- my stylish french box- constance desanti papeterie notebook

A notebook & weekly schedule from Constance Desanti Papeterie:

Why does a brand new notebook always feel so exciting and optimistic?! A new book feels like a fresh start, a determination to do well. We have partnered this book with a weekly schedule, in French! So now you can be organized and improve your French vocabulary at the same time!

What did you think of our blue and white box? Which was your favorite item? Tell me in the comments below!

This is my first box but certainly not my last! This box hit most of the senses: scented candle, beautiful mug (note to self-buy better coffee!), a funny print to look at, beautiful scarf to touch and all of the other wonderful items. Thanks so much Sharon for bringing a little France to Yardley PA.

Dear Sharon,

Well, this is quite a beautiful box of pleasures and treats. I’ll admit that, since I was 12 or so and had decided that my great aunt’s house was the most elegant one I’d ever known, I particularly wanted her collection of 18th and 19th century blue and white china. As 12th or so in line for the throne, so to speak and however, it all went to her daughter instead. As things turned out?…..it’s now 46 years later….I’m 58, and Aunt Martha (just as amusingly thorny at times, as ever) is 83, but we’re the best of friends nowadays and I can visit her and the china whenever I please.

I suppose you know that, during the heyday of 19th century British aesthetes such as Whistler and Sargent, blue and white export china was all the rage among the “Artistic” circles of London. Oscar Wilde decorated every wall in
his dining room with blue and white china on blue and white wallpaper (“nothing succeeds like excess”). Later, he languidly quipped “My greatest fear in life is that I will never live up to my blue and white china”…..all I know is that he may have eventually lived up to it, but he didn’t outlive it; a friend of mine bought one of his vases a few years back.

As for the Fragonard candle holder? That is, indeed, pretty. At the risk of seeming bossy?…I’ll pass on a tip which surprisingly few folks seem to know. I found a friend of mine, after last Christmas, laboriously and futilely pouring boiling water into used candle holders at the kitchen sink (she wanted to keep them, although the candles were finished). She was just making a mess and, as I told her, merely giving her plumber an opportunity to earn another 300 bucks.

I told her to pour out the water OUTSIDE and simply put the holders in the freezer. I do this all the time with candle sticks and candelabra. After a night in the freezer, all of the wax simply pops off. She thought I was a genius. I told her I wasn’t, but had grown up in the country with a practical mother and a very capable housekeeper. I wasn’t at all raised in a typical American,, disposable, “just throw it away and we’ll buy all new ones next Christmas” household. I’m assuming that you and your European readers will/might already know this handy “trick”, but I’m passing it on in case someone doesn’t.

In any case, what a lovely box…..(and, yes, blue and white is still my favorite color combination, but I’ve never gotten myself or the house sufficiently organized to accord with any particularly color-scheme, beyond a general impression of white walls, far too many paintings, and old, brown wooden furniture).

Best as ever,

Greetings Sharon! The May box was simply exquisite. So jam-packed with many lovelies. Blue-and-white…what a timeless theme! Thank you also for including the complimentary copy of My French Country Home Magazine. As an initial subscriber to the digital subscription, am thrilled to have it now available in print as the content and photography is so much better memorialized in hard copy. Would love to see the first two volumes in print as well as the photographs of Paris were amazing. Now we have two surprises to look forward to receiving throughout the year in addition to your blogs…the Box and the Magazine. Oui oui!
Cheers,
Lindy

Hi,

Do you ever offer individual items from your boxes for sale after the initial orders go out? I love your tasteful collections, but I do have allergies to some scents and candles can be a trigger. Love blue and white and almost ordered this box, but thought it probably would contain some sort of perfume or scented items.

I so wish I had been able to get this box. Many constraints prevented that. I simply love the items you’ve displayed! Those lucky to have received it must be so pleased. Beautiful and special items to be sure. Thanks for sharing.

Sharon, I do believe this May box is my favorite so far. I love and will use everything in it…the mug, the necklace, the napkin, the notebook and calendar. And that scarf…ooh la la! When the box arrives I feel like I’m at my own birthday party unwrapping my gifts. The first thing I do when I open that white box is inhale. I know that a delightful fragrance will greet me even before I open the tissue. This sets the mood for discovering the treasures inside.
Thank you for the time, thought and expertise you put in to making these boxes so special. They are my guilty pleasure!
Merci!!

all the contents of your May box are simply beautiful! I do not subscribe to the box, but I do own 2 vintage Hermes scarves and a full blue & white english china dinnerset which i will have to improvise with. The vintage napkin is too beautiful, imagine a handmade item still intact after 100 years! I enjoy reading all the subscribers happy responses. By the way, do you ship to South Africa? Regards

Such beautiful items to make us appreciate the beauty of France, and also!appreciate the beauty of ourselves and our

Sharon,as a devoted subscriber,I ask if it would be possible to once again include some lovely soaps, and perhaps some perfume?I still purchase items from both Godet and Goutal.
The candles are also lovely, but as my husband has asthma, burning them is not an option.
Sending every best wish ,

Dear Sharon and Molly! I was delighted opening the May box. You have exquisite taste and it shows in every single item in the box. I love every single piece equally as much, but I have received many compliments especially on the scarf and the necklace. I set aside some quiet time for myself just to open the box and I sort of disappear into my own little world in France for a while. It’s just lovely to receive your box! Thank you so much!

Sharon, this box is gorgeous. I love it all but especially the Létol scarf. I would love to purchase another just like it for my friend. Was this one made especially for the boxes, or can I purchase another scarf like this one somewhere? I just love it.
Merci bien!

Why oh why must a comment be made as in the description of the little print? Chic and TRIM? Chic is enough of a descriptor. Trim suggests a svelte body…any comments on body shape, size etc is trés passé these days. Young people now are aghast at comments re body size but middle aged females and older still don’t get it.
