Although we entertain all year round here, it is our spring and summer lunches and dinners that give me the most pleasure. The milder weather, the colors in the garden, the longer days. So many good reasons to entertain and invite friends.
Meals can be organised ahead of time, but it is the spontaneous invitations that I love: “hey, the weather is beautiful, are you free for dinner in the garden?” ….

Providing we are warm enough, we linger a little longer at the table, put the world to rights over a good meal and a glass of wine. The small pleasures. Always a few flowers on the table, a pretty cloth, and some whimsical detail to entertain and comfort.
This is the spirit behind our May Box – Spring Dining.
I imagined those effortless moments we all long for this time of year. A table set with just enough detail to feel special, never overdone. Pieces you reach for without thinking, that gently find their place in your habits and your way of entertaining.

Inside this Box, you will find a selection of seven carefully chosen pieces, including something beautiful from Sabre, a cutlery brand I have long admired for its joyful approach to the table. The rest will remain a surprise for now… but each item has been selected to bring a sense of ease and charm to your spring gatherings.
We are also continuing our collaboration with our resident artist, Yves Damin. His second illustration is included in this edition. His work captures those quiet, fleeting moments of French life so naturally – the details that often go unnoticed, yet make all the difference.
Altogether, this Box is an invitation to enjoy the season, and I am delighted to offer two of these Boxes as a gift!

It’s a bit too chilly to dine outdoors just yet, but just last night we hosted dinner indoors, although we cooked the meat on the outdoor grill. The longer lighter evenings are lovely. I especially enjoy setting the table to reflect the seasons. Last night was a pale blue tablecloth with napkins purchased in Avignon quite a few years ago. A bit of Provence on the west coast of Canada.
Thank you for the opportunity to win a box!
Gorgeous setting all of them!
Such a gorgeous setting and it is exciting to know that the season for outdoor dining is so close.
Enjoy alfresco! Thanks for such a lovely blog, Sharon. Enjoy your magazines also.
I always enjoy your posts. You gardens are gorgeous!!
Hi Sharon! You are a lovely, considerate hostess! Your guests are lucky to share in the beauty of your alfresco tablescapes and French cuisine.
Your pictures of settings are truly pretty and welcoming.
I would love to win this amazing box.
Thank you,
Corinne G from Pennsylvania
Spring dining includes strolling through my garden in the early morning with a cup of coffee and a scone, something the dark winter months don’t allow.
I never miss a post and what a wonderful treat it would be to win a Spring box!
We have amazing weather in San Diego area. I love hosting my family for dining in the garden.
Like the others I would love to win a Spring box, to add to my fun occasions.
Each spring I take tea and things to nibble to a historic apple orchard not far from my home. This past Friday was the day to wander over tiny daisies growing in the grass under apple blossoms. It is a treat I watch for each and every year. It is an “ode” to springs arrival.
Your post whets my appetite for a sunny meal outdoors before the Oklahoma heat moves in to stay in June. Thank you for all the lovely ideas and information.
If I had to lose all my subscriptions, I would fight to keep my subscription to My FRENCH Country Home. The whole magazine is beautiful and informative. “Vive la France.”
Sharon, our Texas Spring is really the best time of the year to enjoy outdoor dining. The fields where we live are full of wildflowers of every kind. We are experiencing some unexpected rain which can replay the sights of the wildflower bloom again. A French box from you would be most welcoming.
Love this & would love to sample that box!
Curious —why is the fork turned upside down on the one table setting? We lived in Europe for 43 yrs and I have not seen that before.
Thank you Susan—heading over to FB to see if I can enter there as well.
My favourite thing about spring dining would have to be the new seasonal fruits & vegetables coming available : we are ready for a change!
Your photos are always an inspiration on how to plan a perfectly inviting table for my guests.
A beautiful garden, soft lights, flowers and specially prepared food. Just what your guests deserve.
A sample box would inspire me.
So inspiring, Sharon! Love your creative vision!
I have cleaned my screen porch and plumped up the cushions on the sofa there. My favorite thing about dining there is watching the birds at the feeder just outside the screen, listening to their rustles and chirps. Enjoying delicious food and wine while sinking into the outdoors.
Dear Sharon,
I am always inspired by your beautiful posts and table settings. It is like I can almost smell, taste and touch France from miles away. Thank you for sharing all that you do whether through your blog, your magazines and of course your lovely books. I get lost in them, and they bring a spot of brightness to my days.
My Mom and me are already sitting outside in the garden for tea. Al Fresco is perfect for the month of May, which is also my birth month. The month where wisteria, roses and peonies are all in bloom and heady with fragrance–so beautiful!
Lovely time of year to set a beautiful French style table. Can’t wait until it is a bit warmer so we can use our porch to dine. We live in the woods and it is full of life. Even see Bobcat walking around at times!
Thank you for sharing so much beauty in living and experiencing life and culture in France!
Thank you a chance to win your beautiful spring box, can’t wait for turning on lights in the patio, the sound of the table fountain nearby and the grill is ready.
Another enticing post that leaves me wanting to dine outside! The weather in Richmond, Virginia is currently lovely, except for the pollen dropping like mad!
Springtime seems to find us spending more time relaxing, talking, sharing meals, enjoying the light outdoors than we do in other seasons. The garden is waking up, the air is fresh and the cool hours are fleeting. Your candlelight, table setting and fire for the chill are beautiful and inviting.
Your most exquisite spring decorated table settings are all so inviting Sharon. Thank you for the opportunity to win a Spring box. I wouldn’t be able to wait till spring to open it, as spring starts in September here in Western Australia.
For me, spring dining is all about the food! Everything is lighter and fresher!
I adore the long lingering light of the day that transitions beautifully to soft candlelight or string lights, making all want to linger. Merci for the opportunity!
