the soft autumn bouquet

In a few weeks time, when the only flowers to be found will be strident and bright, assembling bouquets will require nerves of steel or a stiff drink, or possibly both.  But for now there is still some gentleness to be found.  Pinks merging with greens, whites fading gently.  Roses may tinged by an overnight rain … no matter there is still beauty in them.

Here is what I found this morning: my climbing hydrangea that is offering its very last petals, the last pierre de ronsard roses, a little sedum, white cosmos, pinky green hydrangea and best of all  my all time favourite dahlia – huge, creamy white tinged with the slightest hint of pale pale salmon.  How I wish I had planted more of this one!
Hope you enjoy, my gift to you to brighten your Tuesday!

The variety of flowers in your French garden is truly awe inspiring Sharon – and no two bouquets are ever the same!! I would LOVE to transport your cuttings garden to Hill House in England. To be able to fill my home with such a choice of fresh, hand picked bouquets on a weekly basis would be an absolute joy!
Best wishes,
Paula xxx

Such a beautiful bouquet. Just last weekend, I was picked my own flowers and lamenting I hadn't planted more
dahlias. My garden is in upstate New York so it's funny to think we have the same last blooms.

How beautiful your flowers are! And so romantic.

Here on the other side of the world, we've just begun to enjoy the spring. In our national capital we're still having cold nights but in the sunny days the roses are sending out their first shoots. We love our Pierre de Ronsards too and we're also looking forward to Albertine along the back fence and to the lovely Mmes Afred Carriere and Gregoire Staechlin which always mingle together along one side of the house, looking like coconut ice at their peak of flowering. At the moment we have camellias, daphne and hyacinths in flower. So lovely after the winter. Best wishes, Pamela

Gorgeous as always! I love the more subtle colors of late summer – so soft and pretty. Your bouquets are inspiring us as we put together our new Spring/Summer 2013 collection which we are calling "Country Couture". This one is definetly going on the cork board! Cheers, Cynthia
