christmas countdown

by Sharon Santoni
It’s the end of the first weekend in December, and I am starting my christmas countdown here on MFCH.  Three weeks of ideas for home grown christmas decorations; french christmas recipes; tablescapes and sneaky insights into the lives of some of my stylish french girlfriends and their christmas preparations.
The blog banner has changed to a very wintry scene and I have set my oh so kitsch snow falling down your screen.
Thank you all for your incredible kind and generous comments about my bark and berry decorations this week, I know I asked for some positive input :), but I wasn’t expecting such enthusiasm!
[blank]Today just a few shots of a silver tray in my entrance hall.  A little moss, a couple of nightlights, mercury hearts and some antique crystal tears.  It’s discreet but it still says christmas.  Most of all it is all home-grown, and that is the theme I hope to follow this month.
Thank you so much for reading me.  I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, you are my raison d’être.  You are my inspiration to write and to take photos and to blog.  Thank you for every comment you leave and for every page you look at here on this little blog.  I am very fortunate to have you stop by.[blank]

Love the new blog banner! The winter scene makes the house looks ethereal, with the twinkling snowflakes fluttering down. The Christmas vignette on the silver tray is beautiful. Lovely combo of vintage silver, crystal and green moss. Thank you Sharon!

I love the picture of the house in snow! Silly me, I tend to think of France always sunny (or mostly), so it is just stunning (in a grand way) to see it in snow! Love the snow falling across the screen, just wonderful.
Most of all, I love your moss in the dish. What an elegant touch!! Wish I had that much, perhaps I will buy some….
I am using Mercury glass this year. I have been finding "cheap" pieces for decorating and am having so much fun with it.

Love this Christmas post! I thought about you yesterday when I made your recipe for French madeleines. They were outstanding! I shared with some friends in our little Delta village and they claimed it made them feel very French just eating them! I felt the same! Can't wait for you to share your Christmas recipes!

It's hard to believe that whilst we sit here sweltering in the heat in the Southern Hemisphere summer, other people are contemplating snow… I know which one I prefer (here's a guess, it's cold, white and makes Christmas extra special!) Thank you for making it snow for us, if even just on the screen, I'm sure it's made me feel 10 degrees cooler already. Also, Loving the Christmas decs, they look great 🙂 Michelle
